The Hero Lab V2.2 update has now been released. This update includes an assortment of small product enhancements, as well as lots of data files enhancements for the various game systems. We've also been making steady headway towards getting the Authoring Kit ready for release, so there are lots of things that have been added/revised under the covers that will be unveiled as part of the Kit. The most important changes in this release are summarized below:
- For d20, added Pathfinder 11-13 content and the Second Darkness companion.
- For d20, weapons now print separate statistics for when they are used in the main hand, both hands, off-hand, etc. Note that details about off-hands are only printed if you have the two-weapon fighting feat (this can be overridden by applying the "Output Options - Always Print 2-Weapon Attacks" ruleset).
- For d20, you can now create and edit special materials in the Editor.
- For M&M, the "Dynamic Power" power feat no longer appears, since it isn't really a power feat at all. Instead, a checkbox at the bottom of the power form can be used to indicate whether or not the power is dynamic. (Existing powers with the 'dynamic power' feat will continue to work correctly.)
- For M&M, printing of variable powers has changed. Previously, only the main power appeared; now, any active (or potentially active) sub-powers are also shown.
- For M&M, each power is displayed indented on a new line in statblocks. This makes it much easier to read the list of powers.
- For M&M, statblock output now includes power setting info, from shapeshifting etc.
- For M&M, added a new "- Linked Power -" entry in the powers list. This allows you to add two or more linked powers as a single entry, and add alternate powers based on the total cost of the linked powers. (The old "Linked" extra was removed.)
- For M&M, powers that cost less than one point per rank can now be adjusted in 1-rank increments (taking 3 ranks of a power costin 0.5 PP per rank still costs you 2 points). This allows you to avoid exceeding power level limits because of a lack of granularity.
- For M&M, you can now apply power feats, extras, flaws and drawbacks to devices.
- For M&M, devices can now have 'alternate devices' for 1 PP each. These work just like alternate powers.
- For M&M, permanent powers now apply permanent modifiers to statistics, instead of temporary modifiers. However, if a permanent power is a child of a temporary power (for example, Protection on a device) it will still apply a temporary modifier, because it's really still temporary. For example, a permanent strength boost of +5 will show your final strength as "15"; a temporary strength boost of +5 will show your final strength as "10/15".
- For M&M, the power form now has an additional table that allows you to add feats (not just power feats) to powers.
- Added an assortment of improvements to the Editor to make editing content easier and more flexible.
- Fixed a couple of special-case errors within printing that would cause HL to hang or crash.
This list is just a sampling. We've included many more enhancements and bug fixes for both the product and the different game systems. Please see the readme file for details on product changes and the respective game system FAQs for details on each game.
You can obtain this new update via either our website or the integrated Updates mechanism within Hero Lab.
