Hero Lab request

After seeing the preview pic for the iPad version, I wonder if you would consider a character sheet program for computer users? It would be nice to send a copy of the players PC so they can use their laptops for character management.

That program exists today and is called "Hero Lab". :)

My players use laptops at the game and use Hero Lab to run their characters. Its awesome as spells and abilities (ie Power Attack, Deadly Aim) are all one click things to turn on in the "In-Play" tab.

I also use HL at my game table as a character sheet for both my PCs and the bad guys. This is one reason why I try and make sure all abilities have summaries short enough to fit on the specials tab.

Yeah, but I only have one player that has purchased HL. The rest don't want to spend the money on it. I was wondering if they used the trial download, could they still open and manage their character, as long as I was the one keeping the permenant saved copy?

The trial has a limit on complexity, and it doesn't have any of the extra packages enabled. If their characters are pretty low level and only use things from the core, they can probably get away with that, but I somehow doubt they don't use anything from outside the core rulebook unless you've made that a rule at your table.

As for the "players not wanting to buy it" I can sympathize. My group won't either (destitute cheapskates that they are!), so I have to print out character sheets for them every time they level.

The RPG folk have an interesting product. I worked with them at Gen Con and got to know the product they use and the guys there. But the RPGwithme is a pay service, I think $60.00 a year. So if your group isnt willing to come up with buying HL, I would doubt they would spring for the money or RPGwithme.

That being said, I think its a great product.

Actually, for just the character sheets it is free. If I wanted to GM using their product, it would cost me only, the players wouldn't need to pay a dime.

Their interactive character sheets work by loading a Hero Lab XML file. The sheet can then be integrated into either their VTT, or PbP system. The system looks like it has potential. The Kickstarter failed for the site, but I hope I convined them to try again.
