Hero Lab No Longer Updating

Neither of the computers in my apartment running Hero Lab are updating. We've tried all the suggested fixes. We're running on different OS, Windows and Linux. I don't see anyone else posting about this problem. That seems to indicate our Verizon DSL.
If that's right, what do I tell them to make them stop blocking our updates?
I don't know exactly how Hero Lab accesses the update servers, what ports and such, so I have no idea how to tell Verizon what's wrong.
Any suggestions?

I was able to download and install the 7.1 version of Hero Lab without any problems. But the new version still can't update. It can't connect to the update server.

Possibly a firewall issue on your router is blocking a port that's needed?
