Help with magical skills

I have priority magic, and I get a message to raise my skills to take advantage of the free skill points, but when I do it goes to taking karma instead. Figure I am doing something wrong...

At the bottom of the skills tab should be an info item that says "Magician, priority B free skills", or something to that effect. When you move your mouse over that, what message does it give you?

I'm having the opposite issue, where I have an extra point of skills because Hero Lab is charging me less than it should (and yes, I submitted a bug report). Interesting, even though my Mystic Adept is Priority A magic, it says "Mystic Adept, priority C Free Skills" to the left of the ? on the Active tab.

The system is giving an extra skill point, because it wants to choose
a level 6 skill I have as one of the free level 5 skills I get from
Priority A magic (Mystic Adept). I should be paying 2 points for
Spellcasting - 1 point to take it from the free 5 to 6, and 1 point
for the specialization. Instead, it lists it with the wand symbol and
a 1.

The skills are listed in Hero Lab as follows:
4 Clubs (4)
5 Counterspelling (Wand symbol)
5 Negotiation - Bargaining +2 (6)
3 Sneaking - Urban +2 (4)
6 Spellcasting - Manipulation Spells +2 (Wand symbol, 1)
5 Summoning - Spirits of Man +2 (6)

Active Skills: 21 of 22 (1 skill points left)

Say's priority C regardless of what you choose (submitted a report about it) for the free magic skills you need to select the blue ones. Those are the only ones that count for free magic skills and you only get free ones if you have A or B magic priority.
