Having Editor problems

I am trying to add the Monk weaponds from the Arms and equipment guide, but can't seem to get the file to save properly. I am opening "d20/source/srd_weaponn" to access the thing tabs. Have tried New (blank) & New(copy) to creat the weapons entry. I fave followed the using the editor guide. Everytime I try to save the file, clicking save on the tab screen is not he;ping.

Using save file on the Windows tab, I need to enter a file name, but which name should I useand which folder do I put it in. When I do put it in the source folder, I get this message

"The current file is not saved in the data file folder for this game, and cannot be compiled. To compile this file, please save it in the data file folder for this game by selecting "Save As..." from the "File" menu."

when I try to test my entries.

I need more specific instructions, of someone to put the Monk's weapons on the next update.

Thanks

All user created data files must be saved in the "d20" folder. Try creating a new dat file and save it to the "d20" folder.

Correct. The d20 source files are provided as examples that you can refer to if you want. Those files are separate and *not* the files that HL actually uses. So create your new material in a new file. You can create a new weapon as a copy of an existing weapon via the Editor, then make the few changes that are needed.
