Is anybody out there? It's five days now, and there are no new
messages, either here or at the Wolflair site. Is the AOL problem
that serious?

I am not on AOL so I am getting mail fine. Just seems quiet.

So, I had a question about these Partner Sites. Is there any progress on people/companies becoming a partner site?

What does it take to become one? I am curious because although I do not buy cards for investments but to play/win, it is sometimes nice to see if I had an "expensive" card. Since "expensive" is relative, I was wondering if it is possible for a partner site to create a database of each game system and have its value per Scrye or Inquest that could then be downloaded and merged into your inventory? Or, is that not the purpose of a Partner Site?

The thing is, I'm an AOL user and all through this apparent AOL problem I've
been receiving messages just fine (and I've been checking AOL's 'we marked
this as spam' folder, and none of my CardVault messages have been shunted there).
Of course, I know what the problem is like since I had a similar problem
with another mailing list in the past.

But in any case, I've been getting the list just fine.

The problem, I believe, wasn't with mail to the list; when we tried to send
email directly to AOL customers, AOL would reject stuff from our mail
server because sometimes, mail from servers on private cable connections is
spam. One might think that a blanket ban was slightly over the top to
combat this, but apparently not. So we had to phone them up and ask them to
remove us, which (I hope) they have now done.

The whole Partner Sites thing is going much more slowly than we had hoped,
but headway IS being made. There is a major auction site that is well
underway to utilizing CV as its front end for monitoring auctions. One of
the smaller (but well-respected) pricing sites is just about to ready to go
live. And one of the bigger pricing sites is still working on integration,
but progress is being made quite slowly.

Becoming a partner site simply requires dedicating the necessary technical
resources to make integrate with Card Vault. We've tried to make that as
simple as we can, but there are still some technical hurdles for a partner
to overcome, and those vary significantly from one prospective partner to
another. It all depends on how things are setup already for the prospective
partner.

The model you cite of downloading prices into CV and viewing them for your
collection is exactly what we envisioned as a primary use of partner sites.
And we're almost to a point where the first one will be going live.

AOL appears to still be rejecting email sent directly from us. Nearly two
weeks ago, they said they had everything they needed from us and would have
it resolved within 3-7 days. Why it takes 3-7 days to do something that
takes probably 30-60 seconds is beyond me, but that's what they said. And
now it's been twice that and still nothing. Man, I truly despise AOL.....

This list isn't effected by the problem, since we send posts to yahoogroups
and then yahoogroups sends the email to all the subscribers. It only
effects emails that we send directly to AOL users, such as product licenses
and technical support responses. :-(
