Half elf variants?

Sorry to necropost, way to tired to dig through all of the pages in the Community Pack thread. So far I haven't seen it added in. I am currently looking at the means to do so, but half awake starting the project. If anyone has already begun to work on it would be good to know!

I'm thinking of the Elf races.

The Half-Elf is in already under Half-Elf Variants. Make sure you enable the SCAG source.

What's not complete is the scripting to make it work and honestly I've no idea how to achieve it. Right now it's a drop-down allowing you to select your sub-race choice and ability. But that doesn't do anything.

You can't bootstrap from an Eval Script. So the way I thought it might work isn't going to work...

Could set it up like the Human variant with a different sub-race for each choice. Messy but it might work.

I just did an call for an update through HL, so unless I'm missing something? Then again I don't have any of the Volo's stuff I see people talking about. Is there a file I need to manually download I may be overlooking? Don't want to eat up to much of your time.

I created a specific variant copied from the half elf in core. I deleted the bonus skill proficiencies from it. Then I made sub-races with names like "Cantrip" and "Fleet of Foot" and "Mask of the Wild". Then made them a sub-race of the variant I'd created so that it calls up the option for a sub-race and that brings up all of the choices I'd created. Works fine.

This was mainly because I couldn't figure out how to make the sub-race swap the proficiencies out. On consideration, I should probably also make a sub-race that grants the extra proficiencies. Then I've got a whole replacement solution for the core one.
