Join me in my crusade to create more work for the developers!

I just sent the following email to Steve Jackson Games. Maybe if they hear from enough of us, they'll reconsider.

I've heard that SJ Games, was originally going to give license to Lone Wolf Development to include a GURPS data set in their Hero Lab product, but that for some reason, this deal fell through.

I enjoy the use of both GURPS and Hero Lab. I think that these are both good products and that they naturally complement each other. I would like to ask SJ Games to please reconsider its decision and allow Lone Wolf Development an opportunity to negotiate a license to include a data set for GURPS.

Thank you.

I'd love to see a full-blown GURPS ruleset in Hero Lab. I know that Kairos has got the Lite version up, and I plan on looking at that to try to learn how to do my own ruleset, as my GURPS game uses the full rules, plus High-Tech, Martial Arts, and Tactical Shooting amongst others. Having the ruleset already done would be awesome, and something I'd gladly throw a chunk of money at to obtain.

And while I do use CGA4, it is buggy, to say the least, and not very user friendly in some aspects. I also understand that the code it was written on is quite outdated, and that the author is looking at re-writing the codeset in a more modern programming language, but I've not seen any progress on that front in ages.

Hero Lab and GURPS would be an awesome fit together. Just hope that SJG comes to reason (and gets over the use of HERO in the name of the product) and allows for an official ruleset to be developed. I think they would see a renewed popularity for the game system. Just my $0.02 though.

My goal with the GURPS Lite data files was really to continue learning the AK, spark interest, and sort of serve as a proof of concept in case some other data file authors wanted to collaborate. The Lite version isn't really a full game. I would love to see some full on GURPS action here, too.

Kairos,

No worries. I plan on using your work with Gurps Lite to sort of guide me with where to go with the full blown version, as I've got no coding skills..so it's a learn as I go thing.

Thanks!

It gets involved. You have primary attributes that affect secondary attributes that affect tertiary attributes that can affect each other, depending on how you manage points at each level.

Then you can have "Advantages" or "Disadvantages" that can affect not only other skills, but the point costs for those skills.
