Gunslinger starter gun

I noticed that there wasn't anything in the weapons tab for my starting gunslingers first weapon which per the book is battered for me and broken for others. Am I just missing something or do I basically need to just use the purchase free option for it?

That's what I did. Just bought the starter gun as a Free weapon.
 
Also look at where you have the setting for guns on your hero settings. This is that check box display for what you have as data sets. It makes a huge difference on Gunslinger feats guns and the archtypes.
