M&M 3rd ed. Force Field in Device not added into Toughness?

I've got a device created that includes a 10 point force field. The device is removable but I guess I would have expected the force field to still add into Toughness since 99% of the time, the device would be on the character. Am I missing something?
 
Make sure that the device is checked, and the force field power on it is checked - if either of them are unchecked, the power won't be "active". Hope this helps!
 
I realized my problem was I did have Force Field checked but the device wasn't checked so it was like the character wasn't wearing it. I guess I just had some confusion since the problem can also be used "during game".
