Flexible Wizardry

You will likely get more and better answers if you include the description of what it does. If people don't recognize it immediately, they will be more inclined to just move on than to look it up, I think.

The feat allows the wizard to partially prepare 2 spells in one slot, a number of times based on Int modifier. As a full-round action, the wizard can decide on one of the two spells in the slot to "finish preparing" it.

I quickly toyed with making a wizard to get a look at how this might look. There is no actual implementation (and I think I see another bug I need to report separately).

Suggestions:
  • You can place a spell on the "Memorized" (should be "Prepared" since 3.0) list with a count of 0 prepared.. so both spells in these slots could be set up with "0" prepared. Keeping track of which ones are pairs will be manual (as the list sorts alphabetically), and if the same spell appears in more than one pair, it will be that much harder to keep track of.
  • A new "Metamagic" for this could at least help to identify which spells are prepared this way.. but that would only affect one spell at a time, and I don't see such a "metamagic" dummy currently ( this is based on noting ShadowChemosh's 'Higher Slot' and 'Lower Slot' selections in the Community Basic Pack). This is not an immediate answer, and I have no idea if/when such a thing might be added... and I think trying to get a "split slot" effect like that might be challenging to do at all.

There's a similar issue with the Planned Spontaneity Feat. I can visualize how it might look, but I'm sure implementing it would be a real chore.
