Totally non coder type FYI I saw an old thread from 2012 about firearms. I tried to make a PC with Exotic weapon firearms and it wasn't an option even when I added the DMG a resource. Do I have to make a user tag like it said in the old thread.

The firearms in the DMG (World Building, p144) are there as an example - they aren't part of the Hero Lab 3.5 data. If you want to add firearms, you would have to use the editor to create the weapons and the relevant feats.

You will want to select Exotic Weapon Proficiency as your feat, then select Firearms from the drop down.

There are a few firearms entered in the user file Ravenloft - Van Richtens Arsenal. You can take a look at those if you need some examples. The important thing is to make sure it carries the tag IsWeapon.wFirearms, which is what allows the Exotic Weapon Prof (Firearms) to work for all firearms.
