OMG no kidding. Its like what 10 point now and its hard enough for my old eyes to read it. Please don't go smaller!
He clearly meant to increase the size by 2 or 4 points, but it is funny. 
I'm surprised there isn't a font adjustment. I don't know which library HL uses for its GUI layer, but most allow a default font to be set in the base toolkit that is then inherited by other similar controls or by all controls.
This I the prime reason I don't use the desktop version of HL. What I need to do is install a virtual machine with a really low resolution virtual display, then put HL in there. Then I can dedicate a new virtual desktop to the VM (I'm on a Mac) and when I switch to it the VM display will be scaled to the physical display and the font will be larger. PITA to do, though.
