Feature Request: Party Skill Summary

I considered putting this under the general HeroLab forum, but I am not sure how globally applicable it really is.

What I'd like to see is something like the Tactical Console (or perhaps even a modification of that) in which I can see the same skills for all the Heroes in the portfolio.

Use Case: The party needs to cross a river. Being able to see all the characters' Swim scores at the same time would make it easier to adjudicate that (especially in a Play by Email format).

Other cases would include things like each character needing to make Acrobatics checks while crossing a narrow bridge, Climb checks to get up or down a shaft, etc.

As an enhancement (and to save space), maybe the display could be adjusted to show groups of skills that are often used in the same way... Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive as "Social" skills; Acrobatics, Climb, Fly, Ride, Survival, and Swim as "Travel" skills; Disable Device, Disguise, Escape Artist, and Sleight of Hand as Rogue skills; All Knowledge skills as a group; etc.

Thanks!

How would this differ from the existing Tactical Console once you end combat? There's a skill summary on that, using the space that the weapons use while in combat.

Also, on the TacCon and on the Dashboard, you'll see that one of the circular icons is an "i" - information. Moving your mouse over that will show you all that character's skills.

(I'm afraid that with such a small space to display them, that organizing the skills by type, or presenting them each in specific positions would leave a lot of white space in the skill display, and not allow all the skills to be shown in some cases - I can't see a good way to organize them that would allow you to show all the information about what skills a character has, and still keep them organized in a particular fashion, beyond an alphabetical list).

(Since each game system has its own TacCon layout, this Pathfinder forum is the proper place to discuss the design of Pathfinder's TacCon).

Thanks, Mathias.

First, it would smack me for not even remembering that the out-of-combat display is the skill summary. :)

All of the available skills are not listed, though, in the information pop-up or in the tactical console display.

Looking at my current party, the Rogue's list when displayed in the console is truncated.. the console space is not sufficient to show all of his skills. I can make the console window larger vertically, but the horizontal is constrained (it seems). Each character has a fixed space vertically, so making it larger that way would only allow more creatures to be visible at one time.

Also, the untrained skills do not appear unless I switch to that character in the main display and access the Skills tab. What I am thinking about would include any skill that can be used untrained. The suggestion about grouping them is an acknowledgement that there is not enough space to show all of them at once, but groups related to the type of task being judged (such as social interaction with Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive) being shown would be helpful in resolving cases of group checks, such as "each character must make a DC x Acrobatics check to avoid falling".

I realize this is something of a niche use, as I am running a Play by Email game at the moment where it would be most useful. I currently maintain a spreadsheet of the same information for this use. However, since I find it useful, I thought I'd suggest it and see if anyone else would find it worthwhile.

Regards, Mark

Yes, there does need to be a way to show the untrained skills a character can still use. I'll keep that in mind.

If you can remember to cancel it out, using the Skill adjustment on the Adjust tab to give a skill a bonus/penalty will make it show up - what's currently shown is every skill that has a net modifier that differs from its attribute modifier.

Hmm.. so a modifier of 0 would not force a skill to show. Something to think about. For now, I have my spreadsheet, and that works well enough.

Thanks !
