Feature or Bug: Sneak Attack and Bombs?

If I understand rules correctly, sneak attack from a rogue should apply to bombs as they are a ranged weapon. The thrown weapon exclusion only applies to melee thrown weapons. Also submitted bug report, I just wanted to see if I am incorrect in my rules understanding.
