Favored Bonus and Race

Weaselly

New member
I created a new race (the Felid), but all I did was copy the half-elf and added natural weapons. But when I look at the Favored Bonus options for my Bard, the half-elf has the option of +1 Spell Known, where the felid (which was just a copy of the half-elf, remember) does not.

Where did I go wrong?

When you copy things like races, you usually don't get all the abilities, etc. You have to copy those in addition to the base race. Ideally, open up two copies of HL and load the half-elf file in one and your race in the other and look at the differences.

Actually Favored Class Bonuses are tied to a specific class and race. Meaning the FCB +1 Spell Known is looking for "Elf" which Felid is not.

You will need to do a New Copy of each Elf FCB and connect it to your Felid race. Then bootstrap the FCB to your race to have it appear.

Alternatively, would making the Felid "count" as a half-elf work? (like half-elves are considered both human and elf for such bonuses) I realize that would lead to two degrees of separation for such purposes, inserted of one. Just curious whether that would work or not.
