Error under Windows 7 after updating

I moved to a new Windows 7 computer and was able to install and reactivate Hero Lab with no problem.

Now, since updating to the latest version of the M&M files, Hero Lab fails on startup with the error "Cannot create core run-time file: c:\program files (x86)\herolab\Data\mutants\core.hlz".

Is there a fix for this? Preferably one besides "remove and reinstall"?

Hmm. Finding the existing core.hlz file and molesting its access permissions seems to have eliminated the error. I suspect Win7 is more fussy than XP was about wanting such things to be placed in Application Data rather than a folder under Program Files.

I realize that by default Hero Lab ignores the entire Windows directory structure in favor of a more DOS/Unix/OSX style setup. If I didn't know better
I'd swear this was originally written for Windows 3.1 :D

At least I didn't have to reinstall (yet?). ;)

Silly me . I tried to work with an existing portfolio and Hero Lab crashed with this error:

HeroLab.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Please report this error to Lone Wolf Development at support@wolflair.com, including a description of what you were doing and this message (right click and choose "Copy to Clipboard" to copy it):

C:\Program Files (x86)\HeroLab\HeroLab.exe
3.5 203
Integer Divide By Zero
Address: 0x0045bc2e
Parameter Count: 0

Well, I removed and reinstalled HL using defaults, reactivated and updated the M&M and image files, and had the same problem when I tried to do Print Preview.

It then occurred to me to try some of my other portfolios, and lo and behold they allowed me to do a Print Preview without crashing. :o The one I was originally working with is one of the most complex characters I have in HL, so that probably has something to do with it.

I've emailed the portfolio and error message off to the support address.
