Enable features after character creation

I created a character, then later was asked by my player to show the feat/trait descriptions.

I went in and checked them to be shown, but the moment I then load the character portfolio, they are absent. My assumption is, it's looking at what was enabled at the time of the creation.

How to I change this? How can I add, or in some cases remove, a game system feature after character creation?
 
To change initial character configurations, open up the character .por file. Then click the "Character" drop-down menu and click on "Configure Hero" and you should see the initial options dialogue box. :)
