I'm working on my house rules lately and I want to be careful, so I've created new data files for each new merit and what not, but it occurs to me that the idea might be to have one set of data files per chronicle to house all the custom stuff I'd want to use, so that it can be taken out easily.

So which way is it? One dat file or one for each thing I add?

It's best to group your custom data into logical sets to keep it all
more manageable. I don't know how much material you're entering, so I
can't give you an absolute answer, plus every person's preferences
will be different. For myself, I would probably carve the material up
based on the the source book it appears in, or possibly a logical
group of source books. For homebrew material, that would probably all
live in its own separate file. The exception would be that I would
separate material unique to the chronicle from material that you'll
likely want to use for future chronicles. That way, for the next
chronicle, you can simply omit the one file with material specific to
chronicle #1 and you'll be good to go.

I looked for the hero labs booth at origins, but I saw nothing. Well, not nothing. i saw other booths, but not you guys. Sad.

We were there all weekend. Booth 212 - right next door to Green Ronin
for the M&M data file launch. While the product name is "Hero Lab", we
have multiple products and the company name is "Lone Wolf
Development". We were clearly listed in the program book via the
company name and lots of folks came by during the show.

I'm sorry you missed us. We could have easily answered any questions
you had. Colen also ran a seminar on Saturday about data file editing
that would have been perfect for you to attend. It was listed in the
program book and we told people about it at our booth. It's
unfortunate you didn't see us at the show.
 
No big deal, I was mostly going to say hi and chit chat. I was at a nero event by saturday. I just dropped by to run a game for the camarilla and bail. but I'm glad it sounds like it went well.
