Dumb question - how do I change hit points?

Hi All.

I'm new to HeroLab, and am trying to create a character. Whenever I add levels, the hit points are the max die roll for that class and are not editable. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Under "Configure Hero" check near the bottom...you should see a "HP Options" section. Make sure neither are checked and that will give you the chance to input a rolled amount.

I am certain that neither are checked. I added a level in "cleric" to a 0-level character and it put in 8 hit points. The "8" is totally read-only; I cannot change it.

Help!

according to Pathfinder rules, first level is always at max hit points + Con + favored class bonus (if you choose it so)

Hate to necro this thread, but I'm seeing this problem with the 5e version. I've tried every combination of the HP flags at Hero Configuration, but never get/find/notice a prompt to set the HP when I level up. Photo at link:

With the Don't set HPs option set, I get 0 HP at 3rd level and can't find a place to change it.
This is Pathfinder not 5e forums. I recommend posting to the 5e game system section so that those familiar with 5e can answer you question.
