Digital Content Enters A New Era

Running Pathfinder games is about to get a lot easier, as Pathfinder content goes digital in a way never seen before. Lone Wolf Development and Paizo have teamed up to establish a new digital standard by delivering Pathfinder content through Realm Works, the ENnie award-winning campaign suite.

This new partnership will make the entire Pathfinder portfolio available through the upcoming Realm Works Content Market. Pathfinder modules, Adventure Paths, campaign settings, player companions, and rulebooks alike can soon be used in ways GMs have only dreamed of. The Content Market will debut in early 2016 with some of your favorite Pathfinder Adventure Paths and modules, after which we’ll begin introducing rules and setting material.

So Why Should You Care?
What sets Realm Works apart from PDFs, Wikis, and other options? Consider just a few ways Realm Works takes digital content to a whole new level:

  • Make It Yours – formerly static, published content is now fully customizable, so there’s no need for stickies or maintaining separate notes
  • Integrates with Your World – seamlessly weave published content into your own campaign, with everything in one convenient place
  • Instantly Find Anything – readily explore your realm through extensive links and relationships, full-text searching, and tag-based filtering
  • Navigate with Maps – simply click on map pins to view the details of a location, or quickly navigate to the map containing a specific place
  • Ready to Share with Players – no more extracting pictures from a PDF, masking out portions of maps, or repeating details multiple times while players take copious notes; reveal details with a few mouse clicks during the game and even let players access material in-between sessions
  • Know What’s Known – track what information the players have (and haven’t) learned with ease, including explored map regions
  • Organized for GMs – efficiently access everything needed to run an adventure; Realm Works does all the heavy lifting, converting a traditional module to content that can be readily used at the table
  • Instant Session Recaps – review a complete rundown of what the players learned in previous sessions
With Realm Works, your entire world is literally just a few clicks away.

The Next Step
In a few short weeks, we’ll be launching our “Realm Works Spotlight Series.” This weekly update will outline our Content Market release plans, showcase Pathfinder and other products in Realm Works, and preview key Realm Works features.

See for yourself what the future holds, and sign-up for the Spotlight Series today! In the meantime, you can discover why thousands of GMs rely on Realm Works. Watch our Virtual Tour and get a taste of what Realm Works can already do for your games!

Cool!

Stupid question: from whom will I buy the content? From Paizo or from Wolf Lair?

I need to know so I can get Gift certificates for the correct company.

Thanks!

If I install a module, duplicate an NPC to use as a template (because RW is here to here to do the heavy lifting), change the name, stats, equipment and description, and save as a new NPC, is that new NPC truly mine to upload to the Market or give to a friend or is that NPC poisoned due to being templated from a commercial product?

Thanks in advance for the answer. This is a crucial question which will drive my purchases and probably those of anyone creating their own world. Does making it our own truly make it our own?

Questions like this are some of the topics we'll cover in the Spotlight Series.

I think that answers the question. They are poisoned and unusable by anyone without the original source. Purchased material cannot be used as templates. Thank you.

INCORRECT! It means there are caveats that require explanation, so it's not a simple yes or no answer. Please don't jump to absolute assumptions when we've already said you'll be getting your answers shortly. Thanks!

Firstly, congrats to LWD on convincing Paizo to come on board...

Lets all hope this partnership is not short lived.

Since Paizo is not likely to wait 3 years for LWD to make good on deliverables.

As MNB points out, hopefully this will further the stability of RW.

I wish you good Luck and positive reviews with the big feature. I will subscribe to the spotlight and see what's announced there.

Looking forward to 2016.

This is a very positive development. Although, I run a DnD 5e campaign and probably won't be able to make use of Paizo content, this deal means a great deal for the long-term viability of the product and makes putting your content in RW look like a safer bet to other companies. Pathfinder support seems to have really driven the popularity of HL. Let's hope it does the same for RW. Also, now that I think about it, I probably *can* make use of lots of Pathfinder content BECAUSE it will be in RW. It should be easy to take adventures or monster manuals and simply change stat blocks or mechanics references. I would be much more likely to do that with easily-edited digital content than buying a book.

I don't understand the negativity of a couple of the posts in this thread. It smacks of sour grapes. As much as I want custom calendars, export, printing, individual character reveal, and a litany of other features, none of them has as much importance to the long-term viability of RW as does striking content deals with major publishers. If RW is not profitable, we might never get the features we want and could lose the rest, running a no-longer supported program, like so many other products that litter the wasteland of TRPG-support software failures.

I just don't see any reason for being upset at this development and see so many reasons to be excited, whether or not you run Pathfinder campaigns.

Ditto! @MNBlockhead The content market is the most exciting news we've had since the launch of RW. I've had some negative things to say about RW at times (most recently about stability), but the content market has the potential to bring amazing growth to the product and the better RW does the better it is for all of us -- even if you never use the market. I havn't played in Pathfinder in a few years now, but I still am anxious to see the market launch.

Also, remember that the market is likely to bring with it some other needed features, like being able to duplicate one of your own realms.

A significant part of the gaming market uses premade product exclusively. For them RW is useless until they can buy stuff like Paizo's products and drop them right into it. This makes RW much more viable and will boost LWD's sales immediately which makes us all better off as it makes it more likely that this product will thrive down the road.

I disagree to an extent. I, myself, am one of these kinds of users. I'd rather run a full module or AP than create my own story. I find it easier, leaving me more time to focus on other things (like making dinner for my players).

But, I've been putting in RW data from these modules since RW launched. Which gave me more organization and better player aids (maps, handouts, etc...) from day one because I could display a blown up image on a second screen.

So, while it took me longer to prep for a game, I found it to be WAY better than trying to page through a book at the table. Worth the extra time in RW, where I'd usually read and notate in the books. I went from an hour a week prep time with a book (after reading it once) to about 2 hours per week for input.

And, it helped me understand the story/events better and how everything tied together better.

This makes RW much more viable and will boost LWD's sales immediately which makes us all better off as it makes it more likely that this product will thrive down the road.

But yes, this will be even better. Especially if you read the module first, then use the Realm at the table. Saves on input time.
