Subject: ABCreator question??

I'm trying to edit a datadef file and when I attempt to load it I get
the following error:

"Failed to load specified data file or its corresponding definition
file."

I'm using Ver2.2b and it won't even load the tutorial data files.
What's up????

Hmm. Papabeees, you're in for a treat.

You do not open the datadef file with ABCreator. You have to a series of
things to edit this file:
1. Read the manual. :-)
2. Move the datadef file in question into the same folder as "ABUndef.exe"
3. Run ABUndef to see it's actualy syntax.
4. Open the text file that gets created from this process in Notepad. Or
some other text-only editor.
5. Save your changes to the text file.
6. Run ABDef for proper syntax.
7. Move the newly created datadef file into the \data folder.

And papabeees, I have to add...if you were trying to open the datadef with
ABCreator, odds are that you are not prepared to begin this task. You ought
to read the accompanying documentation first. This is no trivial
undertaking. I know...I've been struggling for the last couple of months.

Good luck.

Hailstop...removing a CD-ROM drive will definitely do it.

The drive you removed was likely where AB was looking for it's registration
key.

Are you using another CD-ROM drive? Or do you now have no CD drive at all?
If you have another drive, just reinstall from the new drive and all should
be well. If you no longer have no CD drive on your machine you will not be
able to use AB as it requires the CD key to launch the license version.

Good luck.

My copy of Army Builder seems to have reverted to the unregistered
version. I haven't done anything to my system except for removing a
CD-ROM drive. Is that enough to screw up the system code?
