Subject: Data file will not save to Text
I can't get one of my data files to save to text. I had to up date the def file, so I saved a back up copy of all my files and then tried to save them all to text to re-run them with the new datadef file. I was able to save one of the two files that I made to text but not the largest one.
Thanks,
Keith

Most likely, you have specified that the HQ unit has a size constraint of
"1:1" or "1:2" AND the transports have the "coun" attribute assigned to
them. The "coun" attribute tells AB to count the child unit towards the
unit size of the parent unit, so adding two transports will throw the total
count outside the defined bounds limitation.
Hope this helps,
Rob

Russell is correct. The only time "save to text" fails is when the file is
locked. Most likely, you started with a locked file, copied it, and then
edited it. Locked files cannot be saved to text or have their info portion
edited. The only way to unlock a file is to have the original author do it
- or you can also have me do it. If the you opt for the latter, I'll need
convincing evidence that it's a predominantly new file of your own
creation. We had some problems early on with a person editing the author
info within data files and then claiming to have authored those files that
were created by other hard-working volunteers. That's why the locking was
first added. This problem has since stopped, but I'm still cautious when
unlocking files for others.
Thanks, Rob
