Subject: Hello hello!
Greetings, all.
I have a quandary which would be nice to resolve. For those of you
unfamiliar with the Catachan codex, you can take one unit of Catachan
Devils in a Catachan army, as an Elites choice. Taking Colonel "Iron
Hand" Straken in the army lets you take these units as Troops. This is
all fine, if a little complex.
Someone recently emailed me saying that they'd had an email from GW
saying that if you took them as troops, you could have more than one
unit of Devils. I phoned GW up, and they said no, you couldn't. Who is
right? At the moment I'm putting it down to staff incompetence and not
changing it, but I'd like to hear what you lot think (yes Jimi, even you
.
And also, does anyone know what GW are playing at, released Craftworld
Eldar abroad before they release it here?

Special rules Colonel 'Iron Hand' Straken Page 22 - if you count
Catachan Devil Force: The 2nd Catachan Regiment is unique in having a
very high proportion of Catachan Devil units, so a Deathworld army that
includes Straken may count Catachan Devils as troops choices rather than
as Elites choices. Note that they can't count as both Troops and Elites
in the same army, it's either one or the other.
Now I read that to mean that when taken as a troop choice in a
Deathworld army you can take as many as the mission chart allows troop
choices notwithstanding the 0-1 limit as Elites.
Cheers
Versif, Nightgoblin backstabber and all round coward, but nice with it.

I'd have to agree with Versif here. Being troops you
could take more than one unit, as many as the troops
slots would allow. This would support the part in the
special rule that states "The 2nd Catachan Regiment is
unique in having a very high proportion of Catachan
Devil units . . . " I don't see one unit as being a
'very high proportion of devil units' whether they are
elites or troops.
Did I just make any sense at all?
RK
PS. I have NO idea what GW is up to by releasing the
craftworld codex here in the states before the UK (I
didn't know that till you mentioned it) but its
welcome none-the-less. OK codex too. Nothing too
special really.

I guess they got sick of us North American'ers getting upset buy US not
getting codex's until a month later (So we get to hear all about it for the
month and when we finally get it...it's like big deal). I believe that NA
go the Catachan Codex a month before the UK as well . I guess for once GW
wanted to spread the wealth.
