If I want to create an AB file using rules for a homebrew Space
Marine chapter, can I just make a copy of the SM file with a
different name and start editing it? Or do i have to start it from
scratch?

Yes you can copy a record and rename it. But depending how the data
file is constructed it is a lot more involved than that. Most
likely you will need to rename quite a few files if the data file.
What I would suggest is starting from scratch and just copying a
file manually with everything, yes it is more data entry, but it
saves on trying to figure out what link is messing up.

The fallschirmjaeger have disappeared from the latest AB files for
Warhammer WW2. Is this intentional?

Has anyone seen a decent English translation of the ab files for
confrontation. The French files are great, but my French is real rusty,
and honestly, I never learned gamer French.. :)

There is a copy in the files section of this yahoo group. We've also got
them on our website in html format at:
http://10.0.0.254/rule/confrontation.asp.

I'm afraid not. While you could just make a copy of the file, it would
still hold the same data as the old file - so when AB tried to read
everything in, there would be a huge number of conflicts and it wouldn't
work. :(

The way to go is by using 'augmentations'. I believe the Construction Kit
tutorial covers them, so try looking there.

Subject: Ork bodyguard in a trukk Qs

Hi, guys.
I'm having difficulties puttin my WB with his 5 nobs in a trukk. I
try and add a mek, but this note appears every time I do this:

Yout Warboss (HQ) contains more associated units and items that can
be... (I can't see the rest of that note.)

What does that mean though? I put only 6 orks in a trukk, they all
have heavy armour and as far as I know I can put up to 10 guys in one
trukk so I'm trying to go with 2 more meks to make it 8:
WB,
5 Nobs,
2 meks.
What seems to be the problem, how can I fix it?
Thank you!

Works fine for me. Do you have the latest datafiles?

And remember, you should post your 40k files questions to ab-40k3
list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ab-40k3/

Subject: Dice Syntax

Hi guys -

I've been trying to get the dice syntax deal figured out and need a
hand. I want the stat output to use dice syntax but I can't seem to
figure out how to get the data into the correct format.

My datadef for the pertinent stats looks like:

CS | 3 | 0 | 2.0 | 6.0 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | . | . | .
Cw | 3 | 0 | 1.0 | 6.0 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | . | . | .
CV | 3 | 0 | 3.0 | 12.0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | . | . |
&CS+&Cw

I am not sure if the derived value has a restriction on it or I just
doing something else wrong. How should I format the data field to
achieve something like "1D6" in the output?

Thanks for any ideas!
Errett
