Subject: AB File for D&D Chainmail
I hacked together a file for D&D Chainmail. It's the first time I've created an AB file from scratch.
I guess my first question is, is anyone else doing one? I'd hate to duplicate our efforts.
Anyway, I have a question:
Ranged Attack (RAtt) is a signed stat, but it does not apply to all models, so I set 0.0=-. Unfortunately, when there's a zero in the stat, it is displaying +0 instead of -.
Here's the line from the data definition file:
RAtt | 4 | 0 | 0.0=- | 99.0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | . | . | .
Is there a workaround?
Thanks,
Rich

But wouldn't the bioplasma and warp blast add to this, or are they treated separately? I figure the venom cannon fires twice, and add 2 for the other attacks makes 4 ranged (albeit different ranges) attacks.
>>> np@tagarno.dk 10/31/01 09:28pm >>>
A hive Tyrant is born with 3 attacks. His Venom cannon will thus be able to fire 3 shots.
Adding Scything talons will give him an additional attack in close combat, but not ranged.
In your case it means that your HiveTyrant has 3 ranged attacks and 4 CC attacks, thus 3/4.

Hi
Great job creating the ab files, keep up the good work! I was just wondering about another thing. My tyrant has the following:
scything talons, venom cannon, bio-plasma attack, warp blast. In the attacks column, it says 3/4. What does each figure indicate?
thanks, Brian

Hi all,
I would like to know if it is possible to remove the * for stats on Hive tyrant. I know this is fine to indicate that some of the unit has increased stats, but I'm talking about the Hive Tyrant. Only one so why the *. Is it posssible to apply the full number rule to single creature units, or can't the AB software do it?
TIA, Brian

I think the problem is that when you do remove the * from the
attacks people will attempt to use that number of attacks for the number of
shots they receive for the X weapons.

Subject: newest WHFB5 .ab version?
Hey all...I'm one of those freaks who haven't rushed out to buy the
6th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battles yet and am still using WHFB
5th edition. I've just recently checked out ArmyBuilder and am
trying to track down the newest .ab file for WHFB5.
The newest one I've found is the wfbv29.zip file - but it's
specifically listed as being for version 1.4 of AB. The file doesn't
give any links to any websites with newer versions....is v2.9 (or
v29) the latest release or is there a newer one? If there's a better
release (a couple of the characters crash AB2.2), where can I find
it? Who is taking care of the updates for it?
Thanks.

No, Bio-plasma is a special CC attack - it does not add to your number of attacks.
Warp blast is a one-shot (only) ranged weapon.
>I figure the venom cannon fires twice, and
-There are three, not two, attacks on the basic profile for a Hive Tyrant.
>add 2 for the other attacks makes 4 ranged
>(albeit different ranges) attacks.
No only three ranged attacks with the Venom Cannon OR one shot with the warpblast. A model, that is a non-vehicle model, can only ever fire one ranged weapon pr. round, so there is no reason to equip the HT with two ranged weapons.
Read the section in the front of the Codex'o'box. It describes how the X-shot factor works - specifically that it is its original number of attacks that counts, no matter how much you add to this number later by buying Scything talons etc.
This seems to be rather 40k/Tyranid specific. I suggest that we either continue this subject in private, that you join the Tyranid group or we close the subject.
