I'm working on my first files, so forgive me if this seems simple to
you.
Unit A can take two pieces of equipment. Item 1 is a weapon, where
item 2 is a shield. Item 2 gives a stat increase and a non-roster
related bonus. If Item 1 and 2 are used together, Item 2 no longer
gives the stat increase.
How can I represent this?

Supersystem is a superhero Miniature battle game. You basicly build
each figure or Henchmen group from the ground up. Each Stat is
purchased for each'unit'. Will AB do this, or should I stop reading
the Creator document?

Outriders are now not getting copies of the game until _after_

We would like to remind you of this upcoming event.
Fileds of Honor 2001 Starts
Date: Saturday, October 20, 2001
Time: All Day
Fields of Honor started out as a small convention in 1992 and
has steadily grown since that date. In 2000 over 500 people
attended representing several states.
This year we would like to expand Fields of Honor to even
greater heights. We have found a great home at the Camp Dodge
Armory. The Camp Commandant has been very gracious and has
opened the camp to us. He has had M1A1 Abram Main Battle Tanks
available for the conventioneers to explore and has also
provided conventioneers with access to high tech video training
simulations. The base hosts a museum as well as being a
fantastic and spacious venue!
Fields of Honor has regularly held Warhammer and 40K tournaments
and demos, there has been Warzone a tournament for the past
three years, Void is sure to be prominent this year also, many
others games of this genera. The Mid-Iowa Association of
Wargamers (MIAW) has been a constant at Fields of Honor and
hosts many historical games including DBA tournaments, Civil War
games, and World War II games. Fields of Honor regularly hosts
RPGA games thanks to the DragonWing Role-Playing Society, (a
local RPGA club). This year’s events include Living
Greyhawk, Living City, 3rd ed. D&D and Living Force adventure
games. In addition LARP, Vampire games, Magic, Pokémon
tournaments, other card games and much more!
Silent auctions are held to give attendees an opportunity to
pick up some great old games, or to help clean out closets!
Fields of Honor has a special guest each year. Previous guest
have included; Duke Seifried, Fredd Gorham, Greg Novak, the
designers of Easy Eight’s Battleground, Whizkids and
Tactical Command Games. We also welcome and encourage other game
company’s attendance.
We would really like this year’s event to be a must attend.
The Fields of Honor convention will be held at S-60 Armory NW
70th Avenue Entrance, Camp Dodge, Des Moines, (Johnston), Iowa
50131.
On October 19, 20 & 21, 2001.

At present, the only choice the user is given is where to place the
downloaded file. Others have already noted how this behaves. When the user
imports data files into AB, there is no choice offered. ALL data files are
placed into the "data" directory beneath where AB is installed, since
that's the only place AB will look for them.
Hope this helps,

The purpose of "strm" is for use when you want to ADJUST each value in a
multi-stat situation. If you use "strm" and then adjust the stat, each of
the values is adjusted. Otherwise, the stat is considered text and no
adjustment is performed. You still have to define the stat value as a text
value. The attribute simply tells AB how to interpret it differently
internally.

Subject: Re: Option question
This one is simple in concept, but it has a nasty little flaw that forces
an alternate and more klunky solution.
The easy solution (in concept) is to have item1 assign a type to the unit
and have item2 use a tweak with the "zutp" attribute that is dependent on
the type assigned by item1. This tweak would subtract back out the bonus
assigned by item1, but only if the type indicated item1 was present. So
what's the flaw? Well, the user can select and/or re-sequence his items in
any way he wants. If item2 goes first in the list, then item1 hasn't been
processed, so AB thinks that item1 isn't attached to the unit (it isn't -
YET). This results in different behaviors when both items on attached to a
unit, depending on whether item1 is first or item2 is first.
Now for the proper solution. Since you need the stat increase to be
INdependent of the item sequencing, you MUST use an option for it. So, have
both item1 and item2 assign different types to the unit when selected (e.g.
"type1" and "type2". Then create an option that performs the stat increase.
Use "utyp" on the option so that the option is only valid when "type1" IS
present and "type2" is NOT present. Since the optoin can appear on any unit
that might select the items, the simplest answer is to assign the "glob"
attribute to the optoin and attach it to all units with the "auto"
behavior. This way, any unit that has either or both of the items assigned
automatically gets the appropriate stat increase behavior.
Hope this helps,
Rob

Sounds like something that AB would be well-suited for. Without seeing the
rules, I can't say with absolute certainty, but it highly likely. An
example of a 100% custom system is Carnage, and AB works beautifully for
that game.

We've been talking with the Creative Director and Brand Development Manager
for Chainmail about this since last year. At GenCon, we received a verbal
thumbs up. Getting official WRITTEN permission is still tied up in the
usual corporate channels at WotC. We can't do any official files until that
happens, and I have no idea when that will happen. However, if a user wants
to write some Chainmail files and release them, that's entirely possible.
If anyone does choose to do this, please let me know so that we can at
least coordinate in the hopes that WotC will issue formal permission for
data files in the near future.
Thanks, Rob

It's probably because your trying to add them separately, which
then takes up the three FA slots. When you add a unit of kroothounds, hit
the plus button to increase the squad size. Also, make sure you've got the
latest files.

DO NOTHING before November 7. I won't ask where you got a copy of the
rules (good for you), but GW can get their @$$ burnt if the files hit
the street before the official release.
Outriders are now not getting copies of the game until _after_
release because too much has leaked onto the street and NewLine is
getting paranoid.
Please, please, do us all a favor and don't $crew the pooch on this

Subject: Re: Files locations - upgrade question
At present, the only choice the user is given is where to place the
downloaded file. Others have already noted how this behaves. When the user
imports data files into AB, there is no choice offered. ALL data files are
placed into the "data" directory beneath where AB is installed, since
that's the only place AB will look for them.
Hope this helps,
Rob

Hope this helps,
Rob

Contact me directly at rob@wolflair.com AFTER the official release of the
game system. I can then give you the details on how to announce them
through the auto-update mechanism. But I'm not going to even look at
anything associated with LotR until after the game is released somewhere in
the world.

It's probably because your trying to add them separately, which
then takes up the three FA slots. When you add a unit of kroothounds, hit
the plus button to increase the squad size. Also, make sure you've got the
latest files.
