That one is not likely to be showing up anytime soon. The reason is that
(a) you're the first one to ever ask for it and (b) the vast majority of
users (across all game systems) tend not to duplicate units exactly. Users
will often have similar units, but usually the model count changes, an
option changes, etc. Compared against the 100+ items already on the wish
list, this one is not high on the list.

Thanks, Rob

Before the wish list starts spewing forth from everyone, please be aware
that I am not planning to do any major new feature releases for quite
awhile. I'm actually starting preliminary work on a new product that will
hopefully see release early in 2002, so major work on AB is on hold. It's
quite possible that I'll be releasing a V2.3 update before the end of the
year, since there are a number of things that would be valuable additions
to the engine. But UI features are NOT planned for addition until the next
major release, which is a long ways off.

Please don't start asking what I'm working on, since I won't provide
answers. Things are still in the very preliminary stages, so it's not even
certain that the product idea will get fully developed. I'm doing analysis
and design work right now. If something actually gets written for release,
you will all be notified. Until then, please be patient.

Thanks, Rob

Actually Rob,
I would like to see something similiar. I think it would be a good feature for historical games especially.

Rob -

Might it be possible in the import function to add something along the lines
of a query to the user confirming where they want their imported files to
go (e.g. "HEY! You! if you import those files to somewhere other than
c:\armybuilder\data you'd better know what you're doing!")

thanks,
daniel

Um, it already does that, via the download save file dialogue. On the other
hand, it would be nice if we could customize the default save location in
the program configuration.

G'day

Presume you mean where you download files to.

Perhaps a little annoying for anyone, like myself, who downloads datafiles
to a separate data directory. I hate unnecessary "warnings". And the
dialog defaults to last used directory. So once you've used the process,
nect time the dialog will "remember" where you downloaded files to last
turn.

May seem a little strange that I do this but it means that if I am cleaning
up hard drives/shifting programs around etc I can, if need be, remove the
main program directory without losing datafiles/patches etc. I can also
keep historical datafiles.

Also helps, if you have software that decides to stuff up (and No I don't
mean Armybuilder) and you need to remove/re-install as I've had to do with
the odd bit of "productivity software" in the past.

The AB import function accesses last used directory so there's no problem
with that if one stores downloaded files outside the main AB directory.

Bern

Reality is a chronic condition,
& one generally ignored by cats.

thats what i've been doing. since attr is text you can enter anything
you want ("3/6/12") and dont need to set the sperator ("/") in the
datadef file because its not for attr. so in other words strm is
broken and useless...?
