Colen, got a minor dilemma for ya. A friend of mine posted this in
Yahoo Clubs.
'According to the Army Builder program, Dark Eldar can Ally with the
following:
A citadel tank called "Shadow," which is a Dark Eldar vehicle (I
think).
Harlequins
A Wych Cult can ally with the same things.'
Now, I may be thinking silly, but I just do not see Harlequins
allying with the buggerers that worship their greatest 'enemy',
Slannesh...
Out of curiosity, where'd you get the info for Allies from?

Thats simple.
According to the CJ harlies can ally with anyone.
I feel the AB files have it backwords.
The Harlies should beable to take anyone as allies.
Not anyone take the harlies....

The same place that I got the harlequin army list from - the Citadel Journal.
*ANY* army can ally with Harlequins - it's more the other way around, the
Harlequins happening to turn up at the time the battle's going on. They can
take one unit, which counts as an Elites choice, only, IIRC.

I believe that a unit of Harlequins can only be taken
if someone is fighting against a Chaos army. They can
show up because they are always trying to destroy
Choas, and no one can ever be sure of when or where
they'll turn up.

From a fluff point of view look at it this way.
Commorough (hopefully spelled that right) is located somewhere WITHIN the Eldar Webway. The Harlequins are masters of the Webway. Plus there is existing fluff showing that the Harlequins quite often deal with the DE. Plus as others have stated, its more like the Harlequins choose you as an ally, not the other way actually.
Besides, although the DE and CE don't see eye to eye, they CE don't actively seek to destroy their misguided brethern. Although the DE have no problem with raiding Eldar sites.

Maybe I'm just blind, but I cannot seem to locate any kind of option
on the printout options to include a date/time stamp, like date/time
the roster was created, modified, and/or printed. Does this sort of
feature exist in Army Builder? I play a lot of games, and have many
rosters that accumulate in hard copy, and it would be useful for later
battle reports to be able to look at two different 500 point Blood
Angels army printouts and be able to tell which one was from last week
and which one was from last month...

Subject: Re: Wish list
I just got back from GenCon last night and I'm now in catch-up mode. So
that's why this reply took so long.
The notion of putting a stat line onto options simply won't fly. Options
modify things - they don't have any kind of state.
Adding a stat line to items is possible, although I'm going to need a
compelling reason for why child units are not a valid solution. You can
easily attach a child unit, and the child unit can easily have a custom
stat line via "sset". You can also use attributes to control whether the
child unit actually has an impact on the model count for the unit (besides
"coun"). So I don't see a situation wherein child units fail to work. If
you can outline the details of what you're trying to accomplish, I can
either (a) offer useful suggestions on how to solve the problem and/or (b)
see the situation more clearly and understand why you really need a stat
line for items.
Please note that I've already added to the todo list support for hidden
stats for items. These would be a small number (3? 5?) of stats that are
used internally only and never displayed to the user. These stats would be
local to each item and would enable limited calculations and state to be
tracked for each item via tweaks. The values of these special stats could
then be applied to the stats of the parent unit in appropriate ways via tweaks.
As above, please provide justification for why a "ucst" attribute is needed
for items. I'm happy to put things on the todo list if a reasonable case
can be established for why those things are needed.
Thanks, Rob

The "chld" attribute is special in that it queues up the adjustment for
subsequent application to the child units. Therefore, you need to apply the
"chld" attribute BEFORE the child unit is actually processed. This means
that the option with the "chld" attribute must occur first, with the option
having the "unit" attribute occurring second. The net sequence therefore
becomes:
1. Add platoon unit.
2. Process option on platoon with the "tabl" attribute. This inherently
triggers the selected table option to be processed.
3. Process option to calculate second stat based on the table selection.
4. Process option(s) with the "chld" attribute to effect changes on the
child units.
5. Add the child units to the platoon. They should properly inherit the
results of the "chld" attribute.

The simplest solution for mapping is to use "xlat". You can have the morale
grade represented by a stat value in the range 1-4 (or 0-3). You can use
"smap" to display this value as the text name, plus you can use "xlat" to
map the stat to the cost. You can then use the "cost" attribute to
calculate the option cost based on the mapped stat value.

>(grand-children) via items, so that the user doesn't need to view them

I don't believe that the "chld" attribute will propogate downward into
units attached to items. In addition, the use of items introduces yet
another line into to the display. My gut reaction is that using items in
this way is a less than ideal solution. Please outline the overall model
you are envisioning and I'll give it some thought. I now have the Gropos
book - thanks to the nice folks at AoG - so I can read up on things if you
point me to the appropriate pages.
Thanks, Rob

Hi there.
According to the CA book, 1K Sons termies have two wounds, but with
AB 2.2a and the 2.30 datafiles they only have one. This comes up
whether I have a Daemon Prince or Exalted Champion, and whether I
count them as troops or not.
In addition, I can make any KSon termie in AB an Aspiring Champion,
but Thousand Sons termies can't have Aspiring Champions in CA.
It says you're allowed to designate one KSons termie that is in a
retinue an Icon Bearer and equip him with a Blasted Standard, but I'm
unable to do this.
Finally, the KSons termies are 10 points too much at 56 points each:
the CA book says 46 points each.
Hope I'm not wasting your time by missing something obvious that
would explain these. If so, you may lash me with the wet noodle of
punishment. Thanks for your work.

I also have a question to the sisters list regarding the 'Brazier of holy fire':
It seems to me, that it is an error that if a character, say a Veteran sister or Missionary, takes the Brazier, he/she gets an additional attack.
Eg. a Missionary with a Bolter has 3 attacks on the profile. Giving him the brazier gives him a attack stat of 3/4. As I see it, he will not get the additional attack before he drops the bolter and takes somekind of single handed CC weapon/pistol.
Btw: wouldn't it be possible for a character to take two braziers? It is listet as a Single handed CC weapon in the codex, it is not uniqe and I don't see any rules forbidding you to take two of them, just like you could take two bolt pistols - which BTW also isn't possible in the AB files. (I know that neither would be the smartest thing to do - but it is legal and therefore it should be possible).

>(grand-children) via items, so that the user doesn't need to view them

>chld attribute?
