ahhh a couple of files short... yup that's ME! oh .. umm... yes,
actually, seriously, the file placed in the 'DATA' Folder worked
nicely - right up to the point where i tried to load it
and ::poooof:: "This file is severly corrupted and will now
disintigrate your hard drive like ground zero of a nuclear blast"
warning pops up... (ok, that may not be exactly what it said, but i'm
not FAR off... i think!) ;o) anywho, Thanks to ALL who replied,
thank you for enlightenment... everyday learn a little more. now if
i can just figure out what this file is MISSING! ahhh well... Thanks
again all!

I want to make a unit that is type honor limited to 1 per army.

I have assigned type:honor to the corrct units.

Then i tried umax:1u (but I dont know what the "#" is in #istype)

Yep. To do them 'properly', i.e. allowing for all the models in the unit,
Sergeants, etc. would take too long for it to be worthwhile. IMAO. :)

Hmm, odd. I'm not sure why this is happening (or rather, I can point to the
attributes that cause it to happen, but I don't know why). I'll get this
fixed...

When you give noise marine terminators sonic weaponry, it does not
decrement the number of combi-bolters in the squad. The combi-
bolters are greyed out so you can't do it manually. Therefore, when
you upgrade the weapons on your noise marine terminators, you end up
with too many weapons per model.

since you've already got the unit(s) type-marked, I'd use a race
attribute for validation, rather than something on the unit. My
recommendation would be:
ulmt:type=honor-max@unit=1
optionally, add: -msg=<message id>

#istype is a shorthand for a typecheck. the actual syntax is
explained in the construction kit manual:
"–istype=type
This constraint determines if the specified type is defined for any
unit in the entire roster. If no unit
has the type defined, then the attribute is not applied. The type may
include wildcards. It is also
possible to specify the syntax as "–istype=!type" to determine if the
type is not defined anywhere in
the roster."

so the usage you're looking for is:
umax:1u-istype=honor

but as I said, I think it's probably best implemented as a race
validation...

Using "umax" with the "istype" qualifier tells AB that you want to impose a
limit of one instance of the unit if ANY unit in the ENTIRE roster has the
specified type. From your description, this is not want you are after. If
you want to limit the roster to one instance of a unit that has type
"honor", then the best solution is to use "tlmt". You just have to be sure
not to re-use the type "honor" on other units, so you might consider
calling it type "xxxxhonor", where the "xxxx" indicates the particular unit
in some way.

Thanks, Rob

I would like to shrink the options field in my data file (making more room for my stats). Is there away to control the size or remove the options field?

You control the options column width in the definition file. It's the
"scale" field in the "general" section at the top of the file. Full details
on the values and their implications are in the Construction Kit Manual.

Thanks, Rob

Scroll further down in the pull down menu and you will see heavy
weapons, special weapons, special ammo, injuries, etc., etc., etc.

I am having a serious problem trying to find out how to get a
command squad for a generic space marine hq leader. I know it should
be there, but for the life of me, I cannot find it (read the FAQ, but
did not see it there, either). I have AB 2.2a with the latest version
of the 40k files for this latest release (thanks!). What the heck am
I doing wrong? Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

Go down to the weapon selection checkbox. There is an option to add a
tactical squad to your leader. When that's chosen, the options for the
various characters will appear

It's a bug in the 2.29 data files. Try using the "Ultramarines" list. It
should work and the only difference is more special characters. (You can
also use the crimson fists).
