Upgrade your version of Army Builder to v2.1?

The current process is :-

1) select character
2) select option for command squad
3) select command squad
4) select options for apothecary, techmarine, standard bearer, vet sgt

Why not place a new option under the apothecary/techmarine entries called
'Detach From Squad'

This option will then bring up 3 extra options a) SM bike b) SM attack bike
c) jump-pack - of which, only 1 can be selected.

The options themselves are geared to a rule which checks that the relevent
squad is actually available in the army ie if I select SM bike, then AB
checks to see if I have a bike squad or attack bike squad and if I do then
the validation is ok, if not then the validation is wrong and reports this
as normal via the warning icon ('!')

So, the way I see it is thus :-

SM bike - check for bike or attack bike squad in army
SM attack bike - check for attack bike squad or attack bike in a SM bike
squad
Jump-pack - check for assault marines with jump-packs

How does this look from a datafiles programming viewpoint??

Yep, that's the way I'm going to do it.

I finally got a chance to investigate this, and it looks like everything is
working fine. I'm using the latest V1.3 files, so it's possible that Colen
fixed somthing. :-)

Another possibility is that you're using a Nikutai as the leader package
(or another package with a Leadership 1 rating). If so, then that package
is only available for up to 10 models (Leadership 1). When you exceed 10
models, the option is automatically disabled and deselected, which resets
the unit back to the normal 10 model limit. If you assign a Chui (or any
package with a Leadership of 2+), you can increase the unit size to 20
models without a problem. However, if you increase the size to 21 models
with an LP with Leadership 2, you'll exceed the limit and everything will
reset again back to 10. Granted, this is probably a little bit annoying in
hindsight, but this mechanism was put into place and THEN various rulings
were made to Daimyo Edition that resulted in the higher than normal unit
size minimums. At that point, the annoyance became an issue, but its a bit
of work to change this, and it just hasn't been dealt with yet.

Hope this helps
Rob

I just found this message because I was having the same problem. My
computer can't seem to find one of my hard drives anymore (luckily,
there's nothing I'll miss on it). After seeing no real solution, I
went into my registry and found where Army Builder looks to see which
letter the CD-ROM drive is. I changed the value to the approprite
letter, and everything works fine now.

Sorry if this solution is repetative, it doesn't show up on an
archive search for this problem.

Most people aren't comfortable editing the Registry manually, so I try not
to suggest this to anyone. <G> However, your solutoin is correct. When your
disk drive vanished from the system, the drive letter of the CD changed.
The old V1.x CDs only initialize this value during the CD install, so a
change in drive letter will "break" things (the new CDs check this every
time automatically). This is discussed on the web-site under the Product
Support section - in the page covering problems for owners of the V1.x CDs.

Thanks, Rob
