I think I found an error in the new 40K Dat file... I get a validation error when I put more then one Vanquisher in my army list. Wanted to see if maybe I missed something in the rules or perhaps the skrills got hold of the pre-release ;)

Take your time, I know you're off on Vacation/Holiday ;)

You managed to download it? I just get a "something is horribly wrong"
error message when I start. Downloading it 'by hand' works fine.

The same thing is up with the Mordheim files as well, but not the VOID
ones.... for this reason I suspect it's not my fault. Stay tuned...

That was due to a pilot error when Colen released the new updates. It has
now been corrected and (I hope) won't be happening again. :-)

It's there under "Imperial Guard: Armoured Company". At least, it is for
me; is it for you?

Noticed that the units in the Imperial Armor book were not included

reading in the AC rules that Tanks in that book could be included
in the army.

From: Mathias Gehl <mgehl@home.com>
Subject: Rob - a few things for the to-do list

Now that I have AB2.1, I'm re-doing my Fleet Action files, and I've come
across some problems.

-A set of options are available which alter the point cost of the unit.
Using the mirr attribute, I've forced them to apply to the children of
the unit for which they are selected as well. The problem comes if one
of these options is selected, and the parent is given a different option
which disallows the cost-altering options. I can't find a way to turn
off the attributes for the children (although I've used a type attribute
to eliminate them for the parent). Of course if you go to one of the
children and alter the state of the option, it can't be put back (which
is the way I want it), but I'd like armybuilder to turn them off for me.

-An option is available under certain circumstances which adds to the
size of a composition group (using allw). This option should cost a
certain amount of points each time the same increment is added to the
composition group. However, adding a rang attribute doesn't work (the
composition group's size is altered only once, but you can keep adding
to the range). I finally used a tabl attribute to implement this, but
if an option is selected which disallows the allw option, the allowed
size of the composition group doesn't return to normal. In fact, it
seems to alter the state of the tabl selection by one down (option4 ->
option3 ->option2)

I hope you can understand my descriptions.
2.1 is great! Thanks!

What if you just assign the same type to the child units? The option which
does "type:foo" on the parent to turn off the option can also do
"type:foo-child", can't it?

The "tabl" attribute chains to a bunch of options. When you override those
options, "tabl" recognizes that the options have become invalid, so it
disables those options. However, it does not touch the option with the
"tabl" attribute directly. This is why you're seeing the table selection
being changed on the fly.

Unfortunately, I don't really understand what you are trying to accomplish,
so I'm not sure what to suggest as a solution. I also don't understand what
you would need as a new feature. Please provide an example of what you want
the user to see happen. From that, I can usually figure out what is needed
in AB. :-)

Thanks, Rob

According to the debugger, there are two lines assigning type:foo to the
parent, and none assigning it to the child. (I had forgotten when I
wrote the first email that I had tried to deal with this for a while and
then given up)

Here's the rule I'm trying to model:
Reserves in this game have a cost reduction (you can choose 90% - 65%
depending on how delayed they are) - I've already gotten that working.
The army leader may choose an ability which guarantees that the reserves
will arrive on the turn they are scheduled to arrive. This ability
costs 50 points per 500 points of guaranteed reinforcements.

I'd like to be able to track the number of regular units, so I'm moving
the units to new composition groups depending on whether they're the
leader's unit, or in reserve. That's why I tried to implement this by
creating a composition group rule. If you can suggest a better way,
please do.

Subject: Problem with Mordheim 3.0 files and AB 2.1

I´ve downloaded AB 2.1 and the new mordheim files for it and have
noticed some problems:
- A lot of the weapons don´t have a check-field anymore, instead some
of the weapons have "+" and "-" button (like the characteristic and
expirience advances in earliere versions). This results in strange
stuff like warriors being allowed 2 doublehanded Waepons.
- The "stash" character (from the pirates?) appears in every warbands
characters, but has characteristic values of zero when it appears in
other warbands.
- The Beastmen Shaman still doesn´t have access to a sword.

Anybody else experiencing the same problems?

Yep. The mordheim files are back on track, now that Town Cryer's not coming

You could do that anyway. I'd like you to show me in the rules, please,
where it says a warrior can't take two double-handed weapons...

Yes, that's what it's meant to do. That's where you keep all your gold,
etc. It was one of the new things I could add with v2.1.

>- The Beastmen Shaman still doesn´t have access to a sword.

I don't have Town Cryer 7 (I was waiting until I could get hold of it, but
doesn't the Shaman take equipment from the Ungor list? And the Ungor don't
get Swords?

Hi Not-Colin!
Since you put it that way, I guess I couldn´t show you where it says
that, my mistake! We just haven´t had a caracter with 2 doublehanded
weapons in our group yet.
Still, why are some of the weapon choices equipped with the "+"
and "+" buttons like the characteristics increase was in earlier
versions?
Stash: Pardon my ignorance, now I see! Pretty neat feature then!
Shaman: I´m afraid your mistaken, the Shaman takes equipment from the
Gor list, not the Ungor list (which means he does get access to
swords, but doesn´t get access to spears).

By the way, I hope you didn´t get my posting wrong: I never meant to
criticise, I just wanted to ask if I made mistakes. I appreciate the
hard effort you´re putting into all this as I´m sure everybody on
this list does! Thank you!
kind regards
