I used an existing datafile as a base to build my datafile.
Unfortunatly after I finished, I noticed that the version info was
locked and had the other game system listed. How can I unlock this
or copy all of my work into a fresh datafile?

I have a need to separately list the same child unit multiple times
under a parent. I am using rept to do this. However, I need to
automatically include 2 of these child units as a minimum with a
maximum of 3. I can get it to include one child with the 2 repeats,
but I cannot get it to populate 2 of the child unit on separate lines
automatically. Can anyone assist?

There is currently no way that I know of to force "rept" to generate
multiple child units automatically (i.e. there is no "min" value
available). I believe that Colen wrestled with this issue at one point, so
maybe he's got a great idea on how to solve this one. Colen?

There are only two ways to unlock a data file that you didn't lock. Option
#1 is to ask the original author to do it for you. Option #2 is to have ME
do it for you. For me to do it, the file(s) will have to be clearly
distinct from the original game system so that I'm confident the original
author isn't being "slimed" in the process (there was a problem with this
about 2 years ago).
In either case, you'll need to send the complete set of data files to
either the original author or me. Either of us can unlock them for you and
send them back.
Thanks, Rob

I wouldn't say "great", more like adequate
IIRC, you do it this way. Let's say you need to take 2-4 units. Give
the option the following attributes:
rept:someunit@2
unit:someunit@var
unit:someunit@var
Like that. Does that help?

Subject: Changing Model Count Question
I am using a model count routine in my data file. I have several
parent units that I use as HQ or Troops choices that I want to show
name only with no model count. The models are added below the parent
unit name as child units. I was able to do this with one of my child
units with no models that had sub-child units with models, but I
can't seem to get a parent unit to show 0 in the ## column. Is this
possible with parent units? If so, how do I do this? I tried
inputing "0:0" in the size attribute.

By default, AB does not allow the size to go to zero. To enable this,
assign the "zero" attribute to the unit.

Use the "coun" attribute on all the child units and specify a total unit
size of 1:5 for the parent unit. This way, all the child units will count
towards the total size of the overall unit. It is still possible to achieve
a unit of more than 5 models this way under certain conditions. If that
occurs, though, AB will automatically recognize the problem and flag it as
a validation error, so the user will always be properly warned about going
over the limit.
Hope this helps,
