I have been trying to import the data files I download into the armybuilder I just purchesed. I did as the command said, when I downloaded them I downloaded them as a zip file. The AB program is still not reconizeing them though. Please let me know how to fix this little problem.

Well got it for the unit categorys, but it still
doesn't like the extra option categories (there's no
abbreviations and it doesn't like the fully typed
name, oh well). No worries, I've programmed around
it.
Thanks guys!

I'm not sure what you mean by "not recognizing" the files. When you go to
import the files, you need to navigate to the directory where the files are
located. You should then be able to see the files if they are named ".zip"
or ".ab". If you don't see the files, then check the filenames.

If you can see the files and select them for import, then AB should open
the files and show you their contents. If this is failing, then the files
are likely corrupt in some way.

Are you using Netscape? If so, then it is possible that the files have been
corrupted and AB isn't able to correct the problem. If this is the case, be
sure to download the latest V2.0b update, since V2.0b should now handle all
the ways in which Netscape can corrupt a file during download.

Are you using V2.0 or V1.x of Army Builder? If the latter, please upgrade
to V2.0b, since this ought to eliminate some of the problems you might be
experiencing with V1.x. If you purchased the CD, the update to V2.0b is
free - just download it and install it over your current version.

If none of the above solves the problem for you, please provide further
details on exactly what you are doing and where the problem is occurring.

Thanks, Rob

The "catg" attribute ONLY applies to UNIT categories. There is no way
within AB to re-assign option categories. An option can only ever belong to
one single category, since the category is used as the primary sort key
when sequencing the evaluation (and display) of options.

Thanks, Rob

I went to design a small DA Force the other night and was unable to
give the Apothecary a Reducer or a Narthecium. I checked the other
marine files and they seemed to work fine so it appears to just be a
DA issue. I checked and didn't see anyone else who had posted this so
I thought I should let the power who design know about it.

Thanks for all the fantastic work on the AB files everyone.

HI Chris.
Sorry to have to add to the load, but I found a few more bugs:

Wood Elf:
Sorceror Lord: The 4th level upgarde costs 40 pts, not 13
Archers: Champion cost is calcuated wrong, and his profile is wrong
Waywatchers: Can't have champion, standard or musician
Wardancers: Are not restricted to one unit per army
Glade Riders can have a magic standard – up to 50 pts.
Treemen: Come in units of one, not 1+

Dwarves
It should be possible to take 2+ Spellbreaking Torcs per character,
not just 1

Subject: question on Fractions

Well i tried to bring my necromunda list point values down to Gorkamorka by
deviding all points by 10 to accommodate a campaign for orks and human gangs
after the war of ammageddon, unfortuanatly it rounds up all my fractions, is
this intetional, beyond AB capabilities or just a bug??????

The option to round up has been considered but my gorkamorka friends would
just get confused cause all they know how to do is open a gorkamorka file
and yell WAAAGH and hope for the best

Any suggestions????

Jester
(who is hoping that one day he will be able to convert both files into one
big File)

Beginning with V2.0, you have some various options for rounding. In the
definition file, you can control how rounding is performed on a global
basis. You can also control the number of decimal points used for costs on
a global basis within the definition file. Please take a look at this and
let me know if this doesn't provide you with what you need. The default
handling uses the old (static) behaviors of V1.x, so you might just need to
specify normal rounding behaviors, which is a quick and easy change.

Hope this helps,
Rob

i enjoy converting premade files and switching them to ne armies and gangs

Jester
Would be good if you changed the Escher 1000pt army list,
maybe an option that it could be written as gang, army, force etc

In the "General" section, there is an entry entitled "Round". This is where
you specify the type of rounding you want used throughout the data files
for the game system. You'll find the details on page 12 of the Kit manual.

Thanks, Rob
