What syntax are you using? You have to specify the ABBREVIATION of the
category and not the category name. If you have V2.0b, view the definition
file contents to find out what the abbreviation should be.

Use the "-when=" qualifier on the "must" attribute, such as
"-when=NoNoise". Then assign the type "NoNoise" to the unit via the
"type:NoNoise" attribute. Lastly, assign the attribute "dtyp:NoNoise" to
the Noise Marine weapon options. The net result is that the "must"
attribute will only be active when no Noise Marine weapons are assigned to
the unit.

The "catg" attribute can be assigned to a unit multiple times. Normally,
it's purpose is for supporting the availability of special items to units.
Many items are constrained to only be available to certain unit categories.
Some units essentially belong to multiple categories. This also can be
useful when you use certain validaton rules that are constrained by unit
category. A classic example is a Necromancer in WFB, which belongs to both
the General category and the Wizard category.

Hope this helps,
Rob

M@Arms do not come with lt armor - you have to buy it for...2 pts, I
believe? But it's definately a bought item, as are spears or halberds.

The way AB works is that it is the basic save/modified save. Since a
Man-at-arms comes with LA, his "basic save" is 6, when you add a shield it
drops to 5. Special mods like +1 in hth combat or not being able to use a
shield in HTH are listed on the print-out.

Bretonnians:
Also, Men-at-arms w/ shields should be 5/4, if the 2 #s mean missile/hth
armor saves. It currently reads 6/5, regardless of if the M-a-a is a
halberdier or a spearman.

Which files are you using - the v2.5 files (which I just tested this minute) result in a base size of 5 for Chaos Knights.

As well as Chaos Knights come in 10 instead of 5

Subject: Help with Definition file

I am having trouble converting my definition file into a run time
file. When I run abdef I get the following message: ERROR - line #42 -
unexpected data past end of line. Can anyone tell me what might be
wrong. I have checked my defenition file and cannot find anything. I
counted down to line #42 in the file and nothing seems to be
different with it compared to other lines. Is there something that I
am missing that I should be looking for? Any help will be appreciated.

Ever since I have upgraded to 2.0b, I have not been able to print
Chronopia rosters in landscape format. Everytime I choose landscape,
the program crashes and goes to windows. Other mini game roster sets
do not have a problem. I have a HP870Cse.

Anyone else have a problem?

Thanks.

Subject: Re: Help with Definition file

Every now and then, some text editors will insert a character that is
non-printing and is rendered invisible. I have run into this once or twice
a year for almost 20 years, and I have yet to figure out how or why this
happens. :-) I realize it's due to my flailing fingers hitting the wrong
key somewhere, but I can't figure out which one. Once inserted, the
invisible character causes the C compiler to barf on the file. But the
problem can't be edited out because the problem-causing character can't be
seen. :-(

The only solution I've found has been to delete the offending line and
re-enter it. Sometimes, the problem is actually on the preceeding or
following line, so I end up needing to delete and replace an extra line
above or below the line that was identified by the compiler. I recommend
trying this approach with the definition file you're editing. I'd be
willing to guess it's the same stupid problem. :-)

It's quite prophetic that the offending line is line #42, eh??? :->

Hope this helps,
Rob

Subject: Warhamer V2.5 use of trat

Chris,

there is a problem with the use of trat in the race section for O&G when
checking that have 2 units of same type when one is selected as bigun's.
The problem is that each trat statement is using the same test
(trat:o@2u:big@1u-msg=ogmsg2-istype=o) or in place of o for each unit.
As soon as one unit of bigun's is selected the others all qualify on the
test and so an error message comes up saying must select another unit.

I bodged a fix :) by setting different types in place of big, namely
bob, bso and bsb for boarboys, SO's, and SO boarboys. I then copied the
option ogbigun and just altered the abbrev to each of the above renaming
it ogbigu1 to 3 respectively and then altering the option link in each
unit accordingly. Each trat therefore compares one unit only with a
separately designated type bigun.

It was late and my brain wasn't thinking but there must be a more
elegant solution :)

BTW has anyone worked out how to set the number of wolves correctly when
take a 3rd for a goblin chariot and then take 2, the price is right, but
it only shows 5 wolves. Minor detail.

Cheers

Grotfang, not so humble ork warlord.

Ok then the save will be reported as X (as in no) before any armour/shield choices are made. Then the armour and shield will each modify the value by 1 (X/6 for shield or LA and X/5 for shield and LA). The modified save listed in the column are truly the missile saves because there are so many combinations of ways people can get rules in HTH (they may or may not use their shield, may or may not use a hand weapon with the shield).

Are you selecting the files with the wf6 ending? Basically do you have another set of RH files on the computer (i.e., either dave's or mine (although mine don't default to 10 either)? The only other option would be to download the Construction Kit. Run ABCreator. Load cw.wf6. Select units. select the chaos knights and change the unit size to 5.

That's a weapon category, as opposed to an option category. The two are
similarly named, but do totally different things. :)

Unit categories always have 3-letter abbreviations, like "her", "sor",
"wiz" etc.
