Tried it without the "more" setup, to no avail..
I suppose it would probably work better if I could just give
the "stat" option to all the child units as well, making it show up
in their individual options screens. I wasn't able to figure out how
to do this though
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The stuff in my original post ;p Sorry, I forgot that some people
use Email to get this stuff, I use the web-board setup. Anyway,
after my digging around, this is what it comes down to:
How do I, upon activating an option on the parent unit, apply that
same option to all the child units of types "support" and "leader"
(or not of type:individual), as such:
The option appears in the options menu for the child units, but is
selected and not-editable (so you have to disable it on the parent to
get rid of it). The options abbreviation shows up in the bar-o-
abbreviations on the child units. And the child units' points costs
are raised by the cost of the option (on a points-per-model basis).
Basically, I need to get an option into the child unit's list of
options as an "Auto" only after it has been selected for the parent
unit. Does any of this make sense?
I tried a bunch of ways, and usually ended up applying the option to
everyone, but only charging for models in the parent unit. I was
also able to get the option to show up on the child units, but not to
make it "auto" (as in, already selected and not unselectable).
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Try this:
Have an option (wombat for example) with the relevant cost for
support and leader types (which I assume is the same cost - right?)
have an attribute on the option to restrict it by type:
utyp
leader|support)&!individual
Link that option to the parent and child units using "Cost". On the
child unit, use the local unit attribute "mirr:wombat"
That will cause the child unit to always mirror the state of the
wombat option for the parent, but the utyp: on the option will
prevent it from appearing for individuals.
I just thought of something...
Does the parent unit have the appropriate types?
If not, you'll need two options. One for the parent and one for the
child (wombat and possum). You will then have to play around with the
local unit attribute only: which lets you control a childs option
availability based on a different parent option. Oh, and you'll
probably want the local attribute auto: on the child units as well to
force the option to be selected for the child when it's selected for
the parent.
Something like:
parent - option link - wombat:Cost
child - option link - possum:Cost
child - local unit attributes -
only:wombat=possum-parent
auto
Disclaimer: This is all theory, I haven't actually tried it
Enjoy,
Russell.

Message id is duplicated: [sm000020]
Looks like you've got two messages with the same id.
In fact, looking at the marines.sec and ultramarines.sec, you've got
quite a bit of work to do to get rid of the duplicate id's.
Did you try these files before you posted them?
Russell.

Not as much as I thought.. sm000020 was the only one that you forgot
to change...
Still, it pays to try the files before you post them

Actually, all the work was done. The error resulted from a last
minute add-on as I noticed an error before I exported the files. It
has been fixed. And yes, I do test my files. For hours. Please,
master of perfection, excuse the humble servant's oversight in the
heat of delivering the product between other responsibilities of
life. In other words, lay off. I do this because I like it, becuase
they don't exist, and because I like supporting the heretics of
second edition that still exist. While I appreciate people pointing
my errors out to me, however small, so that I may fix them, please do
so in a manner which is not quite so insulting. Thanks. BTW, the
Dreadnought weapons systems have been fixed as well.

Somebody got out of the wrong side of the bed today
No insult intended. No personal attack intended. Please don't take
offense. I'm well aware of how much time and effort goes into
datafiles for AB.
Take it easy,

Something's weird with eGroups for me, since I got your post from 5pm and
didn't get the post from 4am until many hours later. :-(
In any case, you can definitely accomplish this. However, you will NOT be
able to use "more". The options must be assigned directly to the units.
Here is how to do it....
1. Create an option "bionarms" with cost X
2. Assign the "stat:xx+1" attribute to adjust the stat properly.
3. Assign the attribute "utyp:!individual" to ensure that the option won't
appear for individuals.
4. Attach the option to each unit that can have it, including both the
parent and child units. Use the "cost" link nature for the parent units and
"auto" for the child units.
5. Assign the attribute "only:bionarms-parent" to each child unit with the
option. This ensures that the option only appears if the parent unit has
the option.
6. Assign the attribute "mirr:bionarms" to each child unit with the option.
This ensures that the child will always have the same selection state as
the parent unit.
That should be all that's necessary. The net effect is that parent units
allow the option to be selected or not by the user. Child units will have
the option available only if the parent unit has it. If available, the
child unit will have the option selected or not exactly the same as the
parent unit. The reason that the parent unit can't use "more" to attach the
options is that the "only" and "mirr" attributes require that the option be
attached directly to the parent unit.
For examples of this technique, please look at the Clan War files. The way
that the "skirmish" option is implemented uses this exact same method.
Hope this helps,
Rob

First, make sure you are using 2.0 Beta IV files.
Second, Create a lord. Click "add retinue". Click "Add aspiring champion".
Click on Aspiring Champion to edit. Add more by clicking on "+" If you want
Asp. Champions with different gear, click "Add Aspiring Champion" again to
add a second "group" of aspiring champions.

support and leader types (which I assume is the same cost - right?)
have an attribute on the option to restrict it by type:
utyp

Russell.

Take it easy,
Russell.

Subject: Re: Adding options to child units.
Hope this helps,
Rob

Steve,
First, make sure you are using 2.0 Beta IV files.
