So how do I open this file for 40K2 anyway? I tried to import it and
download it directly to my data fiule directory but AB will not recognize the
file. Could this be due to the file type being listed as ".AB[1]" instead of
".AB"?

Hi:

Just purchased 2.0 and also downloaded the construction Kit. Do I
have to purchase the kit seperately? If so, how? Does the system
save into a word/text file??

Thanks, more stupid stuff to follow...

Which site were you looking at?

Army Builder is at http://www.wolflair.com with fairly obvious links
to Army Builder.

The Army Builder home page is:
http://www.wolflair.com/Army_Builder/army_builder.htm
The download link is the first one on the page that says:
"Download Now!"

Enjoy,
Russell.

Right after the IG, which are almost done. If everybody wants to
vote on the one I do next, I'm up for it :) My bugs are done and my
wife's orks are done, so the playing field is open. Right now I was
thinking of this order:

IG (almost done)
Marines (all the main chapters, after the first shouldn't be too
difficult)
Eldar
Chaos
Misc (SoB, etc.)

eh? I didn't make that extension. Should read .ab Hmm, try
deleting the [1] part and just making it should .ab Must have
happened when it was uploaded, though I don't know how to fix that
kind of thing.

The kit is free :-)

Read the Manual for Army Builder.
*Do* the Tutorial (don't just read it :-).
Read the Manual for the Construction kit.

After that, the likelyhood of "stupid stuff to follow" will be
greatly reduced :-)

If you've done the Tutorial and still don't know what's going on,
search through this egroup - the question has probably been asked
before (and answered).

If you make it this far, there are no stupid questions...

Enjoy,
Russell.

Voidhammer,

I tried to redownload the 40K2 file and it does not give me the option to
change the file type. I also tried to just open the file from the current
location and AB won't recognize it. It is still going to save the file as
the ".ab[1]"

Could you please send me the file by direct email while I try to straighten
this out?

DoubleNot@aol.com

thanks!

The way you rename the file is by downloading it, then right clicking
on the file (when its on your computer) and choosing 'rename'. See
if that works before I send you the file, as it might be a quick fix
for all those who are in the same boat. I'll see what I can do about
re-uploading the file (probably with the IG, I just finished them).

Not sure if this had been brought up but there is an error with the Ravening hordes files.
Under Chaos...The Chaos Knights come in a regiment of 10 in the AB file but you can
have a regiment of 5

The Kit is free. Anyone crazy - er, adventurous - enough to write data
files has probably invested in the full the product. Besides, writing data
files doesn't serve much purpose unless you've already got the full
product. :-)

Army Builder uses its own native file format for data files at run-time.
However, you can also save files to text files if you want. You'll find
full details within the Construction Kit documentation. In general, though,
you on need to edit the definition file as a text file and use ABCreator to
edit data files - without ever needing to know anything about the actual
contents of data files.

Thanks, Rob

Most likely, you already have a file with the same name in your folder. So,
your browser is probably being "helpful" and automatically changing the
name so that you don't overwrite the previous copy. Make sure that you
don't already have file with the same name in the folder, or download the
file to another folder. The file ought to be saved correctly.

This should not have ANYTHING to do with the way the file was actually
uploaded to the web-site. It is something with how you are downloading the
file - probably your browser being "helpful" in confusing ways.

Thanks, Rob

Do all vehicles in a squadron have to be given the same wargear? I wanted to
give 1 Sentinal improved comms and a HK missile, and the other two in the
squadron stock, but AB won't allow this. I'm new to playing IG. Hope this
isn't too dumb of a question...

You can do that by pressing whichever button it is that allows you to
"add another Sentinel". In effect, this increases the group size by one,
and allows you to customize that one as you like.

I tried that, and it ends up adding the points as if to give each sentinal in
the squadron the wargear items. The only way I can figure out how to do it
is to make a squadron of one sentinal with the wargear, and a squadron of two
stock (which actually might be better game wise. Might as well have 3
independant sentinals if they're my only fast attack units).
