Hi there,
Using the designertool I'm trying to create a halfling race for
Mordheim to use with Army Builder. I've come to the point where
I give in the equipmentlist. From looking in some other lists I
already figured out some of the weaponnames. Is there some kind
of easy way to list all the possible "option links"??
Thanks in advance,
Marco.

Actually, it's under Fast Attack, but you have to select "Command Section"
to attach the squadron as part of the Command Section.
BTW: It doesn't appear to work. When I select command section I get a
validation error: "One of your sentinal squadrons is attached to the command
section, but their is no command section to attach to.
IMHO: The IG list is a little clunky to use. I'm not sure what the reasoning
is for having all the that stuff under "other". Maybe I'll try redesigning
it and maybe improve upon it...

Hi, I just noticed that when I printed out my roster, it says Free at
the bottom of the page..
I am using the CD version. 2.0 I believe.
I think this might be a little misleading when handed out. Maybe
"Demo
if for Free"
Just a thought...

All of the main options for Mordheim are conveniently in a single data
file. You can keep a second copy of ABCreator open to view these options.
Or, you can use the Export mechansm under the File menu in ABCreator to
write out all the key option information to a text file. You can print this
file and keep it handy as a reference. I tend to do the former, but both
methods are useful.
Hope this helps,

The intent is not that the product is free. The intent is that taking the
product for a test drive is completely free. The vast majority of products
require that you buy them before you can try them out. I really hate that.
So, AB is free to download and use, albeit the maximum size roster is kept
small so that its use is purely for testing it out. It's the same as going
to your local car dealer and taking a car for a test drive. You get to
drive the car around the block, not take a 3000 mile road trip with it. The
user who is curious about AB can download it for free, then take it for a
test drive and see if he likes it before having to spend his hard-earned
cash on it. Given this, is the text really that misleading?
Thanks, Rob

Since Mike has officially relinquished responsibility for the files to you,
please do the following:
1. Send me the data files whenever you update them. I'll make sure they get
updated on the Wolf Lair site.
2. Send me the email address you would like me to post on the web-site,
since you're the new "maintainer".
3. If you haven't already, please look into the problem with composition
groups being scrambled for some armies.
4. If you haven't already, please check into the problems with a armies and
accessing their allies.
5. V2.0 has added a few mechanisms that will assist in WAB. For example,
the army lists that had limits on combinations of war machines should now
be able to be modeled better. You might consider revising the files to take
advantage of this.
6. I'm sure folks would appreciate if you switched the validation messages
to use English instead of AB's computer-generated messages. This should be
a very quick and easy process now, so I recommend taking advantage of the
new custom messages facility.
Both #3 and #4 are recurring issues that get reported to me, so I'm
flagging them to your attention. If you could take a look at them when you
get a chance, that would be great. Also, perhaps Mike has assembled a bug
list of some sort with open issues that he can email to you.
Thanks for taking over the files! My suggestions in #5 and #6 are certainly
not required, but I thought you might find them worth pursuing if you want
to enhance the files a bit further.
If you run into any questions or problems while working on the files,
please don't hesitate to ask me questions. I will do my best to offer
suggestions and ideas on how you can leverage AB to accomplish the task.
Thanks, Rob

The reason it's been done this way is because the alternative is to have
enormous units that won't be able to be displayed on the screen and
won't print out. This is due to an odd bug in the Windows combobox, or
something. I can't see any better way of doing it than the current one

There's no way to turn it off presently. It's extremely tiny and at the
bottom of the roster, so it doesn't clutter things up any. The main reason
it's there is because the printed rosters are a major means by which other
gamers see the product. They see you with your roster, like it, ask about
it, look at it, and there at the bottom is exactly the info they need to go
check AB out for themselves. It's been there since V1.0 (more than 2 years
ago), and this is the very first time that anyone has mentioned anything
negative about it - although there have been many positive comments made
about how useful it's been to spread the word about the product. Do you
honestly feel it's an important issue?
Thanks, Rob

One thing that was mentioned was to allow the line to be edited on versions purchased for in-store use. We keep a copy running for our players in store, and I'd love to have it print out my store name and address, since alot of our players come in to use it to build their armies, even when playing in tournaments elsewhere. Then *I* could get the mileage out of it when another player with writer's cramp asks our player, "Hey...where did you get that nifty thing?!" and he replies, "Right here...take this copy and call this store. what i am talking about is in the rules for the HQ command platoom
the command hq points list says sentinel squadron: the platoon may
include one sentinel, see the fast attack for points values and
upgrades. the sentinel operate as a separate unit, including for set-
up and reserves rolls.

Ok, maybe we are just interpreting the rules differently? But,
SW Grey Hunters when armed with a Bolter & CCW recieve two attacks
when charged and when they charge as well. The text of the 'True
Grit' rule simply states that a bolter is considered a bolt pistol
for HtH but in exchange they do not get the bonus +1 Attack for
charging like other units do.
Summary:
Grey Hunter with Bolter/CCW charging = 2 attacks
Grey Hunter with Bolter/CCW getting charged = 2 attacks
Am I crazy?

Your logic is flawed, but the outcome is the same. TG allow's the SW to
use is bolter as a CC Wpn as long as he didn't charge. SO -
Bolter and CC Wpn Charging -> 2 attacks (one for his stat, one for
the charge)
All subsequent rounds (and being charged) -> 2 attacks (one for
his stat, one for TG)
BoltPistol and CC Wpn Charging -> 3 attacks (one for stat, one for
charge, one for extra ccwpn)
All subsequent rounds (and being charged) -> 2 attacks (one for
his stat, one for extra ccwpn)
got it?

Hate to quote the dex on 'True Grit' but, "In game terms, this
means that they may count their bolter as a bolt pistol in close
comabt and will therefore be allowed to roll an extra Attack dice if
they are equiped with a second pistol or close combat weapon.
However, a model using their bolter in this manner may not recieve
the attack bonus for charging..."
True grit negates the charge bonus.
Regardless, this is incorrectly reflected in the SW AB files.

Don't have my 'dex handy - but what your trying to tell me is that
a normal marine (or even one carrying a heavy weapon) will get an attack
bonus on the charge, but someone with true grit won't?

Actually, just if he is using the bolter as a bolt pistol. Which
means if he keeps that bolt pistol, he keeps the charge bonus.
So, it's just the 'True Grit' and bolter/CCW combination that is
affected.

Hi there,
Using the designertool I'm trying to create a halfling race for
Mordheim to use with Army Builder.

One thing that was mentioned was to allow the line to be edited on versions purchased for in-store use. We keep a copy running for our players in store, and I'd love to have it print out my store name and address, since alot of our players come in to use it to build their armies, even when playing in tournaments elsewhere. Then *I* could get the mileage out of it when another player with writer's cramp asks our player, "Hey...where did you get that nifty thing?!" and he replies, "Right here...take this copy and call this store. They can sell ya a copy of the software for your very own." <grins>

There's no way to turn it off presently. It's extremely tiny and at the bottom of the roster, so it doesn't clutter things up any. The main reason it's there is because the printed rosters are a major means by which other gamers see the product. They see you with your roster, like it, ask about it, look at it, and there at the bottom is exactly the info they need to go check AB out for themselves. It's been there since V1.0 (more than 2 years ago), and this is the very first time that anyone has mentioned anything negative about it - although there have been many positive comments made about how useful it's been to spread the word about the product. Do you honestly feel it's an important issue?
Thanks, Rob

what i am talking about is in the rules for the HQ command platoom
the command hq points list says sentinel squadron: the platoon may
include one sentinel, see the fast attack for points values and
upgrades. the sentinel operate as a separate unit, including for set-
up and reserves rolls.

So, it's just the 'True Grit' and bolter/CCW combination that is
affected.
