Right, you haven't stated anything here I didn't
already know or understand.
The issue is when you take those warlocks from the
seer council and place them in guardian units. Note
the codex states that warlocks may join other units as
allowed in their unit listing. Those warlocks in the
guardian units are from the council. Hence in this
situation we get a error in the program since I have 3
warlocks in the council itself and then 3 more in
guardian squads.

I can only think of three reasons: The first is
perhaps the error didn't exist before and does now
(unlikely but I thought I would throw it out there),
second perhaps not many people were looking at making
ulthwe armies till now and third perhaps those making
ulthwe armies are finally to a stage in development,
through their fine tuning process, where they are
incorporating more warlocks than ever before. Thus
triggering this error result. This last one i like
best since it applies to my situation. Only until I
added my 6th warlock did the error occur. I tried to
max out the amount of guardian units with warlocks in
trying to keep with the Ulthwe background. I managed
to have 6 warlocks in the army.

Well in adding in what I've done so far I've come up
with a few questions. Yes I have read the AB manual
and the ABCreator manual as well. The documentation
mentions that definition files are text files yet all
the def. files I've seen are binary (specifically the
v2 beta 2 40k and the latest WFB and ravening hordes
datadef files)? The other question was how is the
order of options displayed in AB? It looks like its
purely alphabetical with no sort option that I can
find mention of?

No, but I have a copy and it's on the list of "things

Definition files are EDITED as text files. They are then converted to a
run-time format that is binary. The tools ABDef and ABUndef are used to
convert back and forth. Full details are provided in the Construction Kit
manual.

The Option Categories serve as the primary sort key, with options being
sorted alphabetically within a given category. Again, full details on this
are included in the Kit manual.

How well did you read the manual?
The datadef files are generated from text files by using abdef.exe
They can be undef'ed by using abundef.exe (surprise, surprise
You cannot directly edit a datadef file. (This is definitely in the

Option sort is done in two ways. In the def file, there is a section
for Option categories. Options are sorted according to their

options are in the same category, they are sorted alphabetically
within the category.

There's some mysterious chap called "Steve" in Aberdeen who is updating
the files, according to an email I got from I-Kore a few days ago. I
await developments.
