Default to search box

This seems like a fairly minor thing, though I know that minor changes can be terribly difficult, but would it be possible for the powers/feats/etc dialogs to default to the search box? That way, if I click on Add Power, I can start typing in the name of the power to search without first having to click over to the search box. I think it would save people a lot of frustration without adding any confusion.

Well I'm not sure we need to go to that extreme, lol, but it is a good feature.

In fact, one of my fellow players thinks it's already the greatest thing since sliced bread. :)
 
^_^ It is a great program, hoping to make it greater. Mainly, it's a matter of that with the current setup, typing does nothing for you and I don't think it would negatively impact anyone. And this behavior is what most programs with search boxes offer these days.

Incidentally, I turned on the wrong post icon. Meant for it to be the question mark, not the thumbs-down, but doesn't look like I can change it now. Tried, but it doesn't seem to have impacted it.

Yes, it is a great program and nothing wrong with wishing to help with ideas for improvement.

I meant to say that my fellow player thinks the search box, specifically, is the greatest thing since sliced bread since he has a bit of trouble spotting what he is looking for when it's in a list.

The way the search engine looks in the text is great as sometimes he is thinking of one word as part of the name but it's really in the descripition & the name is something else entirely. Thus he'd be looking forever, never find what he is "certain" is the title and get frustrated. This search engine prevents that as long as he takes the time to look at the items that "shouldn't be there" when they come up as a result & realizes "Oops, I was wrong about the power/effect's name." lol
 
You can hit Ctrl+F to switch to the search box, so if you use it a lot, it should be easy to bring up the form, hit Ctrl+F, and then immediately start typing to search. Hitting Shift+Tab would also work.

If the search box is the focus, hitting the cursor keys or page up / page down are interpreted by the edit control, and not the table of powers, which breaks keyboard navigation for the list of powers or whatever. This is why it can't be selected by default. :(
