Date-format

I might just be blind, but I have not found any way of changing the date-format from US order (Month-Day-Year) to "Proper" order (Year-Month-Day). My poor european brain rebels against having to read and enter these foreign-type dates. :)

Is it currently possible to change the date-format in the calendar?

Unfortunately not. And from something we recently learned, it's not going to happen in a hurry, either.

The in-application calendar was created using the (currently otherwise disabled) custom calendar tool. It should be possible, once that feature is enabled, to create a European-format calendar to run alongside, or even replace, the default one. But until that day, we're all stuck using the US standard dating format.

Though I do have to wonder how the calendar date- and time-stamps things if it's not using the system clock.

Since the calendars are the same, there's no reason the program can't ask the system for the current date/time and convert that to an internal date/time reference.

Similarly, there's no reason they can't ask the system for the current date/time format strings, convert them to internal format strings, and use them for real world dates by default. It's just another item to add to the big pile of things to do.

The calendar used for dates/times on story events is NOT the system calendar. It is a custom calendar built using our internal definitions. It's just like every other custom calendar that our Beta team has constructed for their own use. It NEEDS to be a custom calendar so that all dates derived from it behave consistently and interchangeably with with all the dates created using other custom calendars for story content.

Since it's a custom calendar, it's definition and display rules are tied to the custom calendar - not the system formatting. Consequently, the only way to modify the custom calendar and its display formatting is for use to expose the calendar for complete customization. That capability is not available yet, and it will become available when we officially release full custom calendar support.

Other internal mechanisms, such as tracking when content is revealed, use the system clock. But that's not the time used on date and date-based snippets.

I hope this clarification proves helpful! :)
