Anyone know where a guy could find data-files for 'Ronin' (new
miniatures game by Cell Entertainment)? I remember seeing them once
a few months back, but now I can't remember where I found them.

All this XML talk has gotten me thinking... someone has produced a
nice looking Excel record sheet for Ronin (at yahoo
group "Ronin_Miniatures") and I think it'd be a nice candidate to
play around w/ adding the functionality of being able to
automatically load an XML roster exported from AB into the record.

If they're available, they should be on the Data Files section of
www.wolflair.com.

As I mentioned previously, I've been unable to get access to email for a
full week, so I'm getting caught up now. Sorry for the delay.

I haven't seen Ronin data files yet myself. If someone has them, please
forward them to me. I'm currently in communication with the people at Cell
Entertainment about this very topic. It's quite likely that we'll get their
official blessings in the next week or so. Once we get official blessings,
any existing files can be released for general use. So get them to me!! :-)

If you're interested in using the XML output from AB, I recommend taking a
look at the samples provided with the Construction Kit. Look in the "abxml"
folder beneath where you installed AB. You'll find source code for reading
the XML file and a sample application that converts the XML to an HTML file
that looks almost exactly like the one generated by AB itself. There is
also an XML DOM within Visual Basic that you could utilize if you prefer.

Hope this helps,
Rob

I have an XML directory where I installed Army Builder but no "abxml"
directory. Hence I can't see thie DOM thing for VB. I'm currently thinking
about doing an extension for the Palm using Appforge for Army Builder. I
have the code to create the DLL that I can access via VB. However, one of
the things that I'm intrested in doing is something where you can use the
Palm at a club game and then sync with your roster so that it has the
results. eg X hits taken by unit etc.

The problem with this is that I would need to find out some of the info of
how the DEF file works for the system that has been sync-ed.

If any one fancys helping out give me a shout.

Ken

Oops. Sorry about that. The name of hte directory is "xml". :-)

>Hence I can't see thie DOM thing for VB.

The DOM for VB is part of VB itself. It is NOT part of AB. It also might be
a separate component you have to download from Microsoft, but I do know
it's free. A friend of mine is using it, so I can find out the details from
him if you need them.

You can convert a definition file to a text format that can be readily
parsed if you want. This is done via the "ABUndef" tool included with the
Construction Kit.

Hope this helps,
Rob
