    - The Lone Wolf Development Team

D&D 5e Community Pack

Not sure why but I felt I should post it here. The Elemental Evil Player companion's Aarakocra race will not allow perception proficiency to apply when selecting a background that grants it (like courtier). Other races work fine with courtier so not sure as the issue. Looking at the race in the editor gives me no clues.

EDIT: Correction! It is applying the proficiency bonus, but it is not allowing the listing of the skill (perception with always proficient) in the background skill options. This is mighty weird, should I post this as a bug to Lone Wolf directly?

Just curious, do we have an eta for the next update?

I always look forward to the updates and the fun of exploring what neat things have been added. :-)

I've been trying and trying to get my HL on my laptop to update from the secondary source of updates. I've even tried copying and pasting the URL rather than relying on my old eyes to copy it without mistakes. It still won't update from that URL.

What am I doing wrong?

Need you to give an EXACT set of steps you are doing. Then I can help. Otherwise my answer is follow the PDF instructions step by step.

Or follow Daplunks Video.

Can you share the ETA of the Curse of Strahd*update? I have a game and would love to use the stuff from this if I could.

Thank You

Just download it from the Github site and update manually.

The guys are trying to finish the Psionic before we release.

I do not understand why there are not all races of familiars in Hero Lab (in the Find Familiar spell description it's said that we can choose a ba, cat, crab, frog, hawk, lizard, octopus, owl, poisonous snake, fish (quipper), rat, raven, sea horse, spider or weasel). I have the SRD and Community pack installed.

Are these just these shown in the print below? How can I add more familiars to choose?

It seems to be a bug in the Hero Lab data, i.e. not in the community pack as such, so report to Lone Wolf that rCrab, rLizard, rOctopus, rQuipper, rRat and rSeaHors are all missing the CompIs.Familiar flag.
You can fix this locally for yourself by going into the editor (Tools/Show Editor), creating a new data file, going to the Race tab, clicking the 'New (Copy)' button, selecting one of the missing familiars, press OK, click in the 'Unique ID' text field, enter something unique (I would enter something like, say, rJKRat, you might choose something like rGaRat), check the 'Can be a familiar' field, click in the 'Name' textfield and enter something like 'Rat (Galahan)', press Ctrl-S to save, then press the 'Test Now!' button and click OK, repeat the previous steps as needed for the other missing familiars, close the editor, go to File/Save Data File, give it a name (perhaps Galahan_fixes.user), then File/Close Data File. Now rat is visible as a familiar. The familiars you have added are now visible in the program.

And you also have your own data file for adding even more stuff. Play around with it! Before you know it you'll be a Community Pack contributor. :)
(See the links in Daplunk's post above yours for details.)

Not all familiars are included in the SRD version which is what HL is legally entiutled to use. Todate none of the Community Pack contributers have added any others.

What's going on with the community packs? There hasn't been an update since February.

I'm not going to get pissed off and demand results; the name suggests its updated by the community, which I infer to mean that this is a group of people doing it at home, for free. I have to assume there's a larger issue here. (Or else my version of the app is bugged).

Is everything OK?

The community is holding off on the next release until the Uearthed Arcana - Mystic - Version 3 update is complete.

What if there is no UA revision and it next appears in a source book?

"Xanathar's Guide to Everything" isn't coming until next november.
"Volo's Guide to Monsters" was released last november.
the "Storm Coast Adventurer's Guide" was the november before.

I sense a patter, here. We could easily be in for a 16 month wait.

Mystic - Version 3 is on the Unearthed Arcana site. The guys have been working on it for a while now. You probably get more posts concerning the state of the next update later in the day from others.

You can also go to the GIT site and download a current version of the community pack before it official. :)

I'd like to contribute but I'm not used to github. I looked at the wiki on github and don't see who has what checked out but I can see the v1.9 wiki notes.

I was putting all the VGtM info in for myself and realized I could share easily enough the structure and placeholders to get things started.

I'm currently between jobs and have about a month worth of time to just do data entry, so if someone wants to pipe up with what can be done with any of the WoTC stuff (I don't have much of the 3rd party stuff), it might give me something that benefits us here.

Ultimately we use GitHub to host the content that we are making changes to and keep track of those changes.

We do the actual work within the editor and then upload the changes once we are done.

Have a read here, its how to upload changes to the GithHub.

If you are keen, we could certainly use some help closing out bugs. The Issues page has a list of everything that's open. Just message me your GitHub ID so I can give you access.

https://github.com/Sklore/HL_DD_5e_Colab/wiki/How-to-upload-your-changes-to-GitHub

I really need to spend some time cleaning up all the outstanding Issues and pushing out a new release. Sorry guys but my work situation has changed significantly and I've got a few things going on in the Realm Works side also that have tighter deadlines.

Ever since I had my minor stroke in May, my ability to focus has been lacking. I still haven't completed several HL projects I have on my slate. :(

I know it is frustrating that you may not be working as fast or that you have projects unfinished, I think in the grand scheme of things your health is more important than anything game related

Amen to that. I know I love the games and the fun things that get made for them, but I would much rather have you take care of yourself first. :)
