Custom weapon to calculate spell ranges

So I had a random thought thought, Is it possible to create something that creates a "Close Range" spell that auto calculates the spell range and creates a weapon with that info?

Wow, that would be a helpful addition! Great idea!

I could also mention that this information should be part of the base spell data (meaning that while the spell auto calculates the Save DCs and Caster Level checks (and others), it could also calculate and display the range. But doing this as an add-on means it wouldn't require changes from LW.
