Custom Shield Weirdness...

Unseelie

Well-known member
I'm trying to build a custom magic buckler and I'm running into two issues with Hero Lab.

HL won't let me put a spike on a shield because it's not 'armor'. How do I make a spiked shield then?

HL won't let me make a Darkwood Buckler because it's not 'wood'. There is a separate darkwood buckler in the list, but I can't enchant that. The existence of the latter suggest that bucklers can, in fact, be wooden.

Short of editing the data files, any suggestions?

1) Core Rulebook, pg 153: "You can't put spikes on a buckler or a tower shield."

2) Yes, use the editor to create a wooden buckler - then, that version of the buckler will be a valid candidate for darkwood.

Huh, I thought you could... thanks. And I'll do that for the second item. Any chance that could get slipped in at some point, like when the equipment book comes out? ;)

Is there a way to enchant shield spikes easily?

Convince Paizo to change the buckler's description text so it no longer says "This small metal shield...". Darkwood can't be applied to metal items.

Look at the spikes on the weapon tab.
