Creating a monster. Question about skill ranks

I'm in the process of starting to build monsters and NPCs for my run of the Pathfinder AP Legacy of Fire.
One of the monsters in Book 2 is a Hyaenodon, statblock here

I've managed to get it working well using other examples of monsters, but I just cannot work out how to force HL to assign those skill ranks, and to boost the skills to where they should be.
I've attached the Monsters file that contains the Hyaenodon

I'm an absolute n00b at the language behind HL, and it confuses the hell out of me most of the time, so apologies in advance!

You're on the right track with what you have already:

Code:
#skillbonus[skPercep] += 2

You just need to bump up the bonus until it matches what the statblock has. Then do the same thing with the other skills. There's also a #skillinnate, but I'm not sure what the difference is.

Keep in mind that things like "+4 Stealth in tall grass or undergrowth" normally just get mentioned as a special and users are expected to add the bonus as appropriate themselves.

Oh, and you might want to change the race type from normal to something else. Otherwise it shows up as a featured race. :)

#skillbonus just adds to the total modifier for the skill, it doesn't add any ranks or spend any skill points.
#skillinnate actually adds ranks to the appropriate skills, including reducing available skill points.

When making a monster and assigning the default skill ranks, you want to use #skillinnate, not #skillranks (which you use for racial skill bonuses instead).

Just a note that v1.9 of the Community Bestiary has all the monsters and encounters for Legacy of Fire done. So you may want to wait for it instead of doing it again. :)

Though all I can say is its coming "soon". :(

Sweet as, that's now working perfectly.
Thanks guys, very much appreciated!
Nice to have such a responsive community.
I dare say as I go I'll have more dumb questions, but every question I ask means one less I ask in the future I guess.

Shadow, that pack sounds very cool! I'll be running this for a while (only once a fortnight for 2-3 hours), so whenever it's out, I'll grab it. No rush :)
