Cohorts and companions question

Kaleb

Well-known member
In this months release of the Cohorts book has the feat that allows Animal Companions to take class levels been implemented yet?

If you're talking about monstrous companion, I think you might have misread the effects of the feat. It allows you to take a magical beast as a cohort instead of taking an animal companion. The magical beast has none of the mechanics of an animal companion, since it is a cohort. Like any other cohort, you can handle it by adding a hireling minion to your character and building it appropriately.

Mark Sifert was talking about a feat that allowed AC's to take class levels in the Cohorts book in his thread of questions in the off topics page on the paizo site. this is diffrent than the monstrous companion feat.

I don't see any feat which does that from this book. Is it possible the thing was cut from the final release?

If that was a post from many months ago, it's possible that an idea for that sort of thing was dropped during development and didn't make it into the final book. If that's not what happened, then you'll need to give us the name of the feat you're thinking of, because that does not sound like any of the feats in the book.

AAron, I misread Mark's post. The Person who asked the question that Mark answered was asking about a feature that you have not implemented yet the Cohort feature that allows you to take class levels. Is that going to come out soon?

Not soon, no. The hireling thing I mentioned above is the way to handle cohorts at the moment.
