Caster ranged attacks

Maybe I'm just being blind, but I cannot find anywhere in HLO where I can do a ranged attack as a caster? e.g. I want to cast acid splash, which requires a ranged touch attack. I guess since I have a light crossbow, I can use that at first level as my roller, but that won't work later on.

Would be nice to have generic attacks (e.g. non weapon modified) melee and ranged), available in the roller, as well as a generic roller for things like flat checks (and percentile, and other random dice rolls that we may use in a game).

I'm assuming spell damage will be added in later after the Playtest is over, since that is also not present. e.g. Acid Splash and Magic Missile do not have the ability to roll damage "in app" they just have the "spell roll" available.

I understand that there's a lot of moving parts with the playtest and things changing frequently so some features may be "coming soon."

The workaround my group's using is that since Fist attacks are Finesse, they use your DEX to hit and can be used for spell touch attacks, both melee and ranged.

For what it's worth, I reported this as a bug a few weeks back, so it's in the system.

Cool. I figured someone had to have reported it by now if it was a bug. I wanted to make sure I just wasn't being blind and not seeing it.

Our group is finally about to start trying some of the playtest material, so I've been setting up characters in HLO. I hadn't looked at it until now.

Interesting though. A wizard considered trained for their spell attacks. Fist comes up as untrained, meaning it's at a -2 penalty (should be -4 with the 1.3 update). As a "trained" skill it should be a +0. Maybe using a dagger would be a better workaround, since that would give you both ranged and melee attacks using Finesse.

At least until level 12 when you become an "Expert Spellcaster" and you gain the +2.

Ah, Sorcerer and Cleric both get simple weapons which includes fist. Wizard has a much more restricted weapon selection. That would explain it.
