Card Vault

Just Purchased Card Vault. I know this AB group will there be a
Card Vault Group?

I purchased this - not because I neede it, I rearely play card
games , and only have a few cards of the ones I do. Except Doom
Troopers and Ultimate Fighting - older card games, any chance for
files on these?

I bought it because I have been an aquintance of Rob for a few years
through the internet and have built a few files for Warzone and
Warengine. I really support his company and his effort for customer
service and excelence in the gaming industry - that is why I bought
this card vault system.

Who knows my son may use this alot! he likes hero clix, mage knight
and battle tech clixx.

Here's the deal on datafiles for Card Vault: They are Very Easy to do,
compared to Army Builder. However, the amount of data you need to enter is
often an order of magnitude greater (for example, if you wanted to enter
all the cards for Magic the Gathering yourself, you would need to enter
approx. 7000 cards). So, what you need is:

1) A spoiler list of all the cards. Depending on the game, you can get this
from the company that makes / made it, or from fan sites. For example,
Wizards of the Coast have a spoiler list for their new Star Wars card game
on their web site.

2) A simple text parsing program you write yourself in a language of your
choice, that converts whatever format the spoiler list is in (usually just
a formatted text file) to card vault compatible XML.

You could, for example, get the spoiler data for stuff on an excel
spreadsheet and write some crazy macros (or whatever it is you actually do
with excel) to output it in the correct format.

Anyway. The point of all this is: Once you have a spoiler list, it should
only be a couple of days work to convert the entire list of cards into Card
Vault datafiles, providing you're vaguely familiar with CV itself and know
how to write a simple program. While it is unlikely that 'official'
datafiles for the game 'Skrill Wars 9000', which went out of print 12 years
ago, will be produced by Lone Wolf or the manufacturers, if you can get
your hands on a spoiler list you can quite easily do them yourself. And
once you've done that, you are quite welcome to put them up for other folk
to download as well.
