card vault 1.2

Rob,

I just downloaded 1.2. Instead of overwriting 1.1 it
created it's own wee files, etc. Now, neither will
work. I get told that either (1.2 ) my license in
invalid. or I'm told that all my MageKnight Rebellion
Unique Numbers are invalid and "due to this unexpected
error, Card Vault is shutting down".

I now have a problem, and being a user of the amateur
user, not the pro's that I seem to see all over the
list I'm requesting a wee bit of help.

sounds like a corrupted download. try downloading it again and
reinstalling it. (remove the wee file first).

I'm not exactly sure what's going wrong from your description, but I'll
throw out some ideas.

1. After you download V1.2, verify that it was a successful download. The
file should be just a hair under 2MB in size. If it's not, then something
went wrong with the download, so try it again. You'll find the file in the
"download" folder beneath where Card Vault is installed, and it will be
named "cv12.exe".

2. Once you install V1.2, you must retrieve the new key file properly.
Otherwise, CV will be stuck in demo mode and you'll get errors when loading
any game system for which you have lots of inventory data entered (since
the demo version won't support more than a small number of cards in
inventory). If you don't have the key file properly installed, load a game
system with no inventory (e.g. the samples) and then go through the License
wizard.

3. If V1.2 appears to be installed correctly and working fine with other
game systems, it's conceivable that something went wrong with the
compilation of the MK data files for V1.2. You can force CV to recompile
the files by deleting the file "core.cvz" (and ONLY that file) from the
folder containing the Mage Knight data files. Beneath the Card Vault
installation folder, there will be a folder named "data", and there will be
a folder named "mageknight" beneath that. Delete the file from this folder,
then try loading the MK files again.

If these don't solve the problem, please describe the problem in more
detail and I'll do my best to help out.
